Photo editing and gaming.

Hi y'all,

New guy here. I use my MBP for all of my web surfing, email, and school needs so I don't need any "office" type software for the build. I purchased a Nikon D90 last year to photograph my daughter and am wanting to start editing the photos. I also plan on beginning to photograph my friends on their motorcycles doing stunts, as well as other vehicles, guns, etc... I find that it's cheaper to photograph the guns than it is to shoot them, ammo ain't cheap anymore.

I'm also into RTS/MMOs mainly but I'm known to play some FPS too every now and then.

As far as the computer hardware goes, I'm looking for something that I can use for a few years without having to upgrade a lot. I think I've picked out what I want but I just want to get some advice and/or confirmation on the parts to make sure I'm not making any poor choices. I think I would like a modular PS as opposed to the current one I have selected so could y'all maybe help me out there. I'm also going to use an external HD I have right now for temporary file storage to try and help negate the initial cost of the build.

Ditch the SSD. Go for the faster and more reliable Crucial M4 and Samsung 830 series SSDs.

Anything from Newegg I'm going to have to pay tax on right now since I don't know my grandmothers address right off the top of my head and I can't get in touch with parents until tomorrow to find out what it is. With tax included, that would put the PSU at $131, is that still the best deal?

Just curious, but are Corsairs SSDs just not up to par or are the others just that much better?

And I have Win7 Pro but I think my key will work for any version, it's been a while since I've used it.

Yes. Trying buying as much opf your parts from Amazon.com then with the exception of the PSU.

There are good Corsair SSDs like the Corsair Performance Pro. I don't recommend the particular Corsair SSD you listed because it's Sandforce based.

I got lucky and found my grandmothers address on a piece of paper I had saved from when we had my daughters baby shower so I just had it shipped there. Saved me $10! Now to just remember to call and let her know it's coming to her house.

Are the "numbers" on the memory good? I never really understood the timing and stuff there...

I don't really know which one to pick because they are only a $10 difference...
