Initialze New Raid1

Is it required to initialize a new raid1 array?

When creating them in my ARECA I can skip it but would that do any harm if I need to rebuild it int he future?
 
It just checks for bad blocks on new drives. Totally up to you. I recommend it with new untested drives, or drives a few years old.
 
Initializing a logical hard drive erases all data on every hard drive included in the logical RAID array and effectively resets the array. The process of initialization places zeros in the data fields of a logical RAID drive and creates the parity information necessary to allow the logical drive to successfully pass a consistency check. It is possible for a RAID array to function without initializing it, but an array configured in such a manner is more likely to fail a consistency check due to a lack of properly generated parity fields. Initialization of an array is recommended when configuring new RAID arrays or when a comprehensive rebuild of a logical drive is desired.
