Just thought you guys would like to know, if you havent been keeping up on your stats since we lost 1st...

On the bright side of this however, is that it took them alot longer to make that gap than it took us to close it the first time, so here's to a short summer, lots of borging, and a renewed run to the top!

Screw that short summer stuff! I don't think we'll need winter to close on them. I was just about to post about how we've been closing the gap over the last couple of weeks. We're not gaining on them yet, but they were only out-producing us by less than 10,000 points per day as of this morning, which is only two or three big home farmers worth of output! Once Tigerbiten gets back from vacation, he'll be able to make up at least a third of that on his own. Extremeoverclocking's stats show us ramping up faster than they are, which means that summer may have initially taken it's toll on us, but our new recruits are helping to overcome our weather situation. Things are looking good, right guys?

Edit: I think Damien's still in the process of getting a couple of labs up to speed, so that should be another boost!

The Aussies should be handing us our asses right now and they aren't. We have been keeping production up and staying right with them. This is not the normal way things go. It's not exactly nice temperature-wise here right now. It's mid to upper 90's every day lately and doesn't look to change any time soon. That's a bit over normal for this area right now and I'm not shutting down my machines. It seems many others have not either.

As long as we keep up this pace, we should be in a good position to catch up and pass them before too long. I still say we keep on recruiting and adding what machines we can to catch up and pass them during our summer. Just think of what we could do once it starts cooling down a bit. :D

at least we're still in the race...

*cough* overclockers.com *cough*

we'll be fine. i just hope that stanford fixes squid soon... then i could switch my 3 windows boxen back to f@h (well, 2 at least probably... dunno. we'll see) i could also borg a school.

hehe.

I hate to ask the question... but why is everyone so concerned about summer/winter? Do you guys not have A/C? I haven't seen it impact my house at all.

or if you do have a/c if you have to pay for it... along with how many computers you are running.. etc etc... so it can make a difference :)

+ summer = vacation... = less computers as people turn them off when they go away

the summer has impacted the room my computer run in noticably, when i go in the check on it the room is several degrees warmer then the rest of the house

I dunno, i pay my own power, haven't seen it go about more than about 20 bucks a month, that's not too bad. Summer shouldn't slow down folders. If they have the cash for boxen up the a$$, they should be able to fork out $20 extra a month for cooling..

I've got two computers running in my bedroom here...and my room can get up to 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house...fold on I will though, until the heat kills me, or starts causing errors on my machines.

in my case , summer = more folding work done as I spend less time infront of the damn things and can actually go work on a few car buildups , lol

if you have A/C then summer shouldn't bother you any and if you don't then chances are it's so f-ing hot in your place that it doesn't matter anyway.

summary: stop the excuses and fold on

lol

This 90 degree stuff is not very friendly to my notebook in that is has trouble cooling itself in 30 degree weather.

I've been watching the team stats and even though we aren't catching them we are keeping a good pace. I'll keep trying to improve my 124PPD. Borg and oC like crazy people!

Fold on fellas!

Hey guys, I just started folding for the [H] on my home and work computers (P4 @ 2.4, AXP @ 2.2). Glad to be on the team helping out. :)

Actually, that all depends on the way how you see it
Technically OCAU reached a million points ahead the other time, went further ahead and then after a fair while the [H]orde had good rampage and caught up, then was a million points behind and then I suppose it took less time for that million to be reached because the [H]orde was on a roll at the time.

Also, Australia has had a rather large cold-snap down the whole Eastern half the past few days. That could affect it a little.

It hasn't snowed where I am (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia) in a LONG time, at least 30-40 years or so. Two days ago it Snowed at a city around half an hour's drive south-west of here (Stanthorpe) and while snow itself didn't fall at the city, sleet was seen in numerous places. This is completely unheard of it being so cold... I have never actually seen snow myself ;)

Mmm snow.

Being from alaska i still find it odd that some people have not seen this mysterious white flakey substance :D

At the current moment we have the gap down from 940K to 904k (make the 899K!!). Doubt it will last but for the time being we are out producing them for a few updates.

Fold on fellas!

I'm givin' her all she's got cap'n!

we need a couple more "big boys" in the game to bridge the gap. Summer's the time when lots of schools have idle labs. That's where most of my firepower comes from, as the administration computers are almost 2 presidents old. The downside is that i'll lose alot of this come September. The upside is that I should have half a million points by then. Thats a good chunk of beef for the team.

Maybe I'll even have a tiger on the mantle by then.

I think it's about time to re-organize my farm.. AKA move my boxen to my grandmother's house :p She lives across town and has hella AC. That'll bring my production from.. oh ZERO to about 5 GHz. Not big, but not nothing. I feel bad posting in here with no production, which is why I've been silent for about a month :p

Even that big fat 0 helps. Honest. :p

I am in the process of getting more labs online, but first I have to deal with a rather significant breech of our security. Until that gets worked out I won't be able to bring anything else online.

De-breech those bastards! Then fold like a mofo!

Believe me...there's nothing I'd prefer more than to "breech" them with a lead pipe.....or perhaps a steel side from one of the retired servers... :p

Stop, I'm getting all hot and bothered over here...
:p

If I find out that it was you breeching me, I'll make certain that you're both hot, and bothered... :p That said, I doubt that you'd be able to hide the antlers, so you're safe, this time... :p

I am harmless..... :D

I thought that only whales did that breeching thing!
You are one confused critter there Moose! :p

you know, I'm sure its been said before elsewhere a dozen times, but this competition.. if those aussies weren't giving [H] a run for our money, we'd probably slack off, as would they with their theoretically smaller team, and the project would suffer.

As it is, however, there's two massive teams chock full of nuts trying to borg everything short of transistor tubes, contributing far more to the project than what would've otherwise been possible

Not to say I wouldn't prefer being the ones with the slight lead, defending our title rather than trying to overthrow the reigning champ ;)

edit: minus "reigning champ", add "insurgents"

I've noticed my computer room is a lot hotter than the rest of my house also.
I cant believe that so little equpment can out put so much heat. I've got the following:

3 computers
2 monitors
2 sets of speakers
1 multi purpose lexmark
1 router
1 cable modem
1 ups
1 surge protector

I'm thinking about installing a ceiling fan in there.

So back on topic....How can we recruit more people to our team. What about having NEWEGG put a [H]ardfolding.com banner on their website? After all, we do buy tons of hardware from them. Who could we ask about that??

Full fold ahead!!!!!

I'm back on with all but two of my normal boxen. In the last two days I ramped from 3ghz to 8.9ghz. During the day I even add another 1.8. I'm doing what I can, but my room is already 10 degrees above the rest of the house, and I can only do it so long as my wife doesn't notice I have 6 machines running full time.

Since this is the "nearing 1 million" thread, I thought I'd update you guys who don't check them after every update.

Currently we are down 932,951 points, which is down from 999k last week. Good to see we are keeping the pace (see we noobs are good for something!). We've been out producing them all day but it goes back and forth. Looks like we're heading back to the top. Keep up the work guys!

Fold on fellas!

Newegg idea sounds good, I have a feeling they wouldn't go for it, but they ought to.. I have a feeling some of us individually could impact their quartely reports..

I for one know I'll have a hard time resisting an X2 sooner or later, with a 939 board just begging and screaming for one, nevermind I havent had this venice core chip for hardly a month or two :p
