1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming. I'm mainly building the PC to run the old republic at a decent ramerate, my laptop can't keep up. I may also use this PC in the future as an HTPC.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
I'm going to start low at $500. I can probably go up to $600+ but I want to try to keep it somewhat low.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
USA -> south New Jersey
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Mobo, CPU, RAM, Graphics, Harddrive, DVD Drive, PSU, and hopefully a small Case.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Nothing. I'm trying to do this from scratch
6) Will you be overclocking?
No
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
I currently have no monitor, so I will have to buy one of them as well. That is not included in the budget because I may purchase a new TV soon.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
After christmas
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
No clue what features I should even look for at this point. I'm thinking one that can support a quad core processor so if I want to I can upgrade the processor in the future
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
I have Windows 7. Can I use my license on more than one computer without issue?
Personally, I'm looking for a machine that will be able to run Star Wars TOR well, maybe turn into an HTPC. Other than that, I'm not really sure what else I would do with it other than web browsing. Might possibly use it for some audio programs as well, although I can dedicate my Laptop to that.
I'm seriously in the black about what is good now a days. The last time i even looked into building my own computer was over 5 years ago, and things have changes SO much since then.
I realize everyone will have a different opinion, ideally I think I want to stick with something that will be stable. From what I can tell quad core is now the way to go, since dual core is getting obsolete? Hoping I can swing this with my budget.
Thanks for any and all help everyone! I really appreciate any guidance.
