Anyone running this setup notice this issue? In the same game, same setting, same situation, same everything, sometimes they perform nicely, sometimes they don't. There will be a 50% to 75% of fps drop.

Usually they will run fine for, say, several missions, and then it start going south. Sometimes it will recover by itself, sometimes I need to restart the game, sometimes I need to reboot.

Yes, it is very random, I can't idenify any pattern yet.

The only app 8800GTX SLI can run consistently is 3dmark06. I tried to run it AFTER I hit this problem in a game. I got the same score.

With this I can also rule out bad hardware or bad install. I think it is a driver issue.

Are you using the most current driver, the 97.44? Also I didnt see you system specs, what are the details, including your power supply? Dose this happen in any other applications or games?

XFX Support

Yes I am using 97.44. My spec is:

AMD FX60 @ 3GHz 250MHz x 12
Corsair XMS3500LLPro @ 2-3-2-6 230MHz 11/12 Divider
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Silverstone Zeus 750W PSU

I run into this problem in the following games so far:
IL2 Sturmovlk 1946
GTR 2
Company of Heroes

BF2142 and 3dmarks doesn't seem to have this issue.

Well I can tell you right now CoH has major issues with SLI. They say they fixed most of them, however many claim to still have issues.

I had problems like this. Turned out to be my motherboard. With a replacement board my issues stopped completely. I had an eVGA 680i and I switched to a Striker Extreme, kept the same OS install and just changed the sound driver. Everything worked fine afterwards.

OMG, you better be kidding, I didn't have any chance to return my mobo, unlike you guys in the States we don't have comparable customer services in asia. If I need to buy another one then I will go for a Striker Extreme but I will have to give up my FX60 and the RAM..... OMG....

then, restart once a while suddenly seem not so bad at all.....

after I do hope a new driver can solve this issue....

Not kidding at all. I went through two eVGA 680i motherboards, three power supplies, three different memory module sets, two eVGA 8800GTX's and several drivers, Windows installations and probably stuff I've forgotten.

After installing the Striker Extreme, the problem was gone. Not saying that is what's wrong with your setup, but it is something to explore if all else fails.

can you describe your problem? is it exactly like what I am facing?

Can you reproduce the problem on other eVGA 680i board? or it is just a faulty board?

oh I see you tried 2 eVGA boards..... so seem it is an design problem, instead of just a faulty sample..... but this board is a standard offering designed by NVIDIA !!! so 2 flagship NVIDIA product don't work together??? Doesn't make sense!!!

I had pretty inconsistent performance on my eVGA boards. My D3D games all had shitty performance all the time, and OpenGL worked most of the time, but not always. Sound issues were present all the time.

With just a motherboard swap everything was fixed. Granted there are more people having no problems out of the 680i than there are people that do.

OK, I just found that BF2142 has the same issue also.... however, once I hit this problem, I go into the menu screen, and then back into the game, hola, great framerate again... (16xAA + 16xAF @ 2560x1600 @ 80fps)

In other game like IL2 and GTR2, as long as I stay in the same mission / same race, there will be no problem. Problem only pop up after I start a new mission / race.... Once I hit this problem I need to resatrt the game or even need to reboot....

hmmm.... just confirmed that going into the menu screen didn't solve the problem.....

I have a 8800 GTS set up and the only things i see are in BF2, 2142 in a gunner view i notice a line that goes down the screen like a refresh line. I also see low FPS in microsoft flight simX. Im able to run everything all the way up in everything though with no real issues.

I have an

e6600 stock clock processor
evga 680i motherboard
corsair twinx2 xms2 6800ddr2 ram
2 xfx 8800 gts video cards (forceware 97.44 drivers)
x-fi premium sound card
OCZ gamestream 700w PSU

Running xp64 sp1
whats the best OS for running these sli systems? Also what are some 3dmark06 scores your getting? I'm only getting around 12602 or so on 3dmark06.
