Impulse Deals coming through new setting

I just got this email about Impulse is going to be running its promotions through a special tray notification setting.

Over the past few months we've been working on creating a system to send users "instant messages" via the Impulse tray program. Now users who have "Show Promotions" enabled in their "Impulse Now" settings can receive balloon notifications from their system tray on special offers that come in.

Here's how it works:

Impulse has been working to put together a series of special promotions during the month of December. Anyone with Impulse installed and has the tray program running (which it is by default) and hasn't turned off promotions will start receiving special offers.

These aren't ordinary sales, however. They're special deals we've put together with developers that only exist for 24 hours and are priced at a level we aren't able to promote on our main websites.

The first test promotion was Galactic Civilizations for $0.99. We will be doing some "warm up specials" over the coming week as we prepare for the Impulse "12 days of Christmas" where AAA titles will start to get steep discounts.

I was notified yesterday of the Sins Entrenchment sale, needless to say I bought it right away. It's a good system when the deals are good.

You should post this over in [H]otDeals. A bunch of people use Impulse, but I would imagine that some (like me) almost never have it running in the tray.

I've noticed the popup when starting my system or during system idle. haven't see them during games or watching videos*fullscreen. They did a good job of making it noticeable without being annoying.

theres not many good games on impulse that i dont already have on steam. i like impulse but their selection is extreeeeemely lacking

Bumping this thread for some general knowledge. If you happen to miss the popup or if you want to re-view a promotion you can right click Impulse in your tray and clicking "view promotions...".

Prototype is showing up today and I'm considering it but I know that Steam will probably have it on sale soon, probably less. Impulse has it for 50% off of $50, but Steam has the regular price at $40.

I dont have that option when I right click the icon. I have promotions enabled( atleast I think I do) and Iv seen the pop-ups. I just cant view promotions that I missed.

Make sure Impulse is up to date (check auto updates if you haven't) and that you have Impulse Now running in the tray. I have it set to load on startup. If you've seen the pop-ups then you have promotions enabled.
