Whats a good software like imovie but for windows?

What are some good options at beginner
novie
expert
professional levels?>

thanks

Sony Vegas appears to be popular among beginners.

Then there's Adobe Premiere which is pretty extensive, but reasonably easy to get into.

Avid is frequently used for professional productions.

thanks, i mean should i buy a mac or upgrade my pc to 4 gbs, large HD? I have a 800gts and e6400 at 3GHz

Well are you a beginner, expert or professional video editor?

Novice: Adobe Premiere Elements @ $100
Expert: Sony Vegas @$449.96
Professional: Adobe Premiere Pro @ $814

im starting out. Keep my pc and upgrade or mac?

And how do they make those commercial ads? Like those car ones (honda, ford, toyota)
do they use these software?

They probably do use stuff like Avid, Final Cut Pro, AfterEffects, Shake, and so on. And Maya, or 3dsmax, or Lightwave, or... yeah, the list goes on. Your average car commercial probably costs a few million dollars to make.

hmm only a few?

:p

dang...i wish i could make one that good at home...:(
