IMO eVGA=STAY AWAY!!!

I have bought multiple eVGA cards, they were defective, then the RMA replacement was defective! I have since went to BFG and so far so good.

Id check the power supply first off then I would check the socket itself, (power it off first at circuit breaker), see if its ground properly etc. Two video cards gone bad in a row, especially on a BFG psu (not exactly the most reliable, a lot of newegg reviewers had theirs just fail on them) so dont flame Evga for this.

I thought the 8800 512 and the 9800 where very close on power consumption?? also what about the others on eVGA's forums that are having this issue??

Didn't [H] review some BFG power supplies and didn't they get good reviews?? Thats why I bought one anyway lol.

EVGA doesn't make the card. They slap the sticker on it and offer a different customer service experience. Unless the company actually builds the board and is more involved in the costruction of the card, the only things you can bitch at are the company's Customer service, or the manufacturer of the card (Nvidia or ATi). Sounds like your complaint is against Nvidia, and not EVGA.

Change the title of the thread.

Yeah that was what I thought was stupid about the thread... then I read it and found several other things.

The unhappy users are always more vocal than the happy ones...EVGA, BFG and XFX are all great companies that sell enthusiast products, and anytime I had an issue with a product EVGA was on top of it.

Sad but true. One of the reasons I always make sure to rant when I do business with them, because it's always positive and beyond my expectations.

When I bought my gtx280, I could have easily bought a BFG card for cheaper and still had the step-up option, but after thinking about it, I knew I had to get EVGA just out of principle. That's what they call brand loyalty. Nothing wrong with it; just shows they are clearly doing something right.

EVGA has too many minions working in this forum. They have a very aggressive
marketing department. Best to stay away from this thread, lol.:D:p:mad:

That said your issues are valid. A lot of gtx260/280 owners have reported PSOD / BSOD
lateley. Could be a bad batch / QC problem or just a little driver problem. Best to not speculate though, I'm sure
the problem is being addressed.

Corsair needs to get in to the GTX 200 series.

Man they're so high-class, I'd fuck a chick if she worked at Corsair

Yes they got good reviews. But [H] didn't test for their longevity and I know most newegg reviewers are usually retards but whenever people just state that the PSU died, fan stopped working etc that concerns me.

These cards I've gotten right around their respective launches:

EVGA 7800GTX KO
EVGA 7950GX2
2x EVGA 8800GTX

And they all still work fine.

wow that stinks!.. anyways i am running an evga 9800gtx+ recently bought from newegg and its running 100% great!! Oh and its running at full load too whenever the pc is on(folding @ home or when im playing games) and yes evga in my opinion is the best! :) ... if you were wondering what my previous card is .. it is an bfg 8800gts 320mb which is pretty good too and that now is my backup card

I haven't read anything in the eVGA forums that anything below the 9800 + series is having any issues. The only cards that I have seen in there forums that are having problems are the (IMO) overly aggressive clocked 9800/200 series cards.

IF you read this thread and still decide to buy an eVGA card then thats fine but you should NOT buy the aggressively clocked versions you should buy the lower clocked versions as to avoid this issue all together.

When you add the high clock speeds with the low fan speeds on these cards you get the PSOD/BSOD issues. This info comes from the threads I have posted here and can be verified by reading the other posts. EVGA may very well be a top notch company BUT they should not lack in the QA department because they have soo many customers/fans.

I originally bought an eVGA card because of all the reviews on these forums :) I don't doubt that there are more happy customers then there are unhappy customers. If the second card had worked I wouldn't even have investigated this issue to the extent that I have. BUT getting TWO cards with this PSOD/BSOD issue in a row is not cool anyway you look at it. IF I am not able to exchange this for a different brand video card I will try to get one of the less aggressively clocked cards instead of the highest clocked card.

I am sorry OP, but all cards can have issues not just the 9800GTX's and up. The EVGA forums are intended for customers to tell their issues and to get them resolved. The forums are going to have magnitudes more people complaining that their cards are not working than those who are not. Also, considering that the 9800GTX+ is a serious gaming card you would expect those who own one would probably go on the forums asking for help. EVGA and Nvidia sell thousands upon thousands of each card and if you see a few people with the same issue, its quite possible it could have been one bad batch, or they have something similar that is causing the issue. To negatively reflect upon the entire company because you and a few other people have the same issue is unfair and most of the people here will agree that EVGA will do anything within its power to resolve this issue.

Also, im not quite sure what that means but it smells quite troll worthy to me.

Tomorrow I get the latest evga gtx260 55nm "675 MHz" version, I hope that it works fine...

No problems with my GTX 260 FTW edition (since July) and it was their highest clocked air-cooled gtx 260 until 55nm

The quality of the posts around here is just amazing.

ban hammer anyone?

me and my brother have only purchased evga products, and they work fantastically

I've had a lot of dealings with eVGA's bum cards but they've stuck with me on it

Originally I had a 7900 GT Superclocked. After 2 months it started artifacting and crashing. RMA'd it. Got a 7950 GT superclocked back. After 4 months it began exhibiting the same thing. Got the same card back except a capacitor buzzed really loudly. That card lasted about 6 months before it started blue screening my machine and artifacting. Sent that back for RMA and they gave me an 8800 GTS 640. I know, I was shocked by that. Anyway it had overheating problems because the hsf solution was poorly put on and wasn't making good contact. I fixed that myself without sending it back and it worked fine after that.

I recently upgraded to an eVGA 260 SSC and it's been running fine and at good temps.

EVGA Rocks, there RMA is very easy, and one of the best. (User of EVGA Video Cards)

my friends evga 9800gtx+ died

took them 1 week to send it back and has worked fine ever since

Well I did end up with another eVGA because I cut the UPC off of the box I was only alowed store credit but this time I got there lowest model 260 and so far its working fine (its in the system now and no BSOD or PSOD yet) I hope it all works out but I have to admit I don't trust the card at all :( I hope the video card gods don't strke me down 3 times in a row....

You do realize that there is almost no difference between an eVGA and BFG card? eVGA is the best company because of its customer service.

Maybe but this isn't about customer service this is about trust. I got two bum cards in a row and had to change models before I got one that worked. They may all be exactly the same for all I care but QA should have found the defective cards before they where sold to me. Any type of testing before the card went to market would have found the issues right away.

The best customer service in the world doesn't make up for 2 defective cards in a row. The new card I have now seems to be working so far I haven't had time to do any testing but why would anyone expect to have to buy three cards in order to find one good card.

We will see only time will tell but if they had another brand at Microcenter I would have bought the other brand but they only have eVGA at my Microcenter (all other brands where on back order go figure) and they would only give me store credit. They did price match Newegg though so I only ended up paying 80 bucks more.

I REALY wanted a card that performed at my old 8800gt so I could upgrade in about two months when all the new cards from Nvidia came out but I have a 260 now so I guess thats good enough... as long as it doesn't fail lol

Yea, sounds like a rough few days for you man. I've had a few evga products over the years and haven't had any issues, but I've had issues with high end DFI mobos and corsair memory, so I know what you're getting at.

Shit happens. That's what their warranty is there for. As long as you register within the first 30 days you should get lifetime warranty. So if it ever breaks, they should be able to send you a replacement.

I had multiple problems with a BFG 280GTX (the video card was defective) but I would still buy a BFG video card any days of the week. It does not make sens to reject a company just because of one or two bad products. As an actuary, I confirm that it is unwise to make a judgment on a very small sample.

I think that he is saying that he expects EVGA reps to call people trolls for voicing their experience. Also, I wouldn't agree with you there Sherlock that EVGA will do anything in its power to fix issues. I've had some that seemed to be dragged out intentionally and ended up wasting my time repeatedly without providing a fix.

If you've read some of his previous posts, you may reconsider. But as it stands, EVGA does not want to drag out any kind of RMA issue. Its not within their own benefit to do so. The best thing for both sides is to get to the resolution as fast as possible. Also, people are fully allowed to voice their experiences on the evga forums as well as here, and thats how products improve and so does customer service.

User error + bad karma = OP.

There was no user error involved in this but there was some major bad karma going on for sure. My system from the start was 100% stable with my old 8800 card in the system it only became an issue when I installed the eVGA 9800 in the system.

The new eVGA 260 has not had any issues at this point and I was even able to clock it to 700, 1400, 1200 stable without any lockups or artifacts and it never goes about 58c so not bad at all. I am going to run some loop tests today once I get home to make sure I don't see any issues at those speeds.

The issue I have with eVGA is the lack of QA there are posts all over the forums (not just here) about how people have to "keep trying" "to get a good one" "RMA they will eventually fix it" stuff. There should be none of this going on in the first place there product should work out of the box. I know there will be an occasional bad card in the bunch but for eVGA there are WAY TO MANY bad cards out in the wild.

If you buy a new TV and it's DOA out of the box you replace it with another like for like TV and it too fails then I bet none of you would buy from the manufacture that made that TV ever again.

QA at the factory only helps so much. Those cards could have been dropped/damaged in transit to the store where you bought them, a few cards from a bad batch could have sneaked past QA, or maybe you damaged them. There isn't really a way to say what happened.

Moral of the story: If you buy something that was manufactured overseas, then sold under a different name and it doesnt work, it is the fault of the company whose name is on the item, not the original manufacturer nor the chain of delivery.

Evga rocks. RussianHaxxor rocks. You got unlucky. It could have been any number of things. Have you ever seen what UPS/FEDEX do to packages in transit? Fragile just means kick it a few times less than normal to them.

LOL seriously, go look up "ups caught on tape" or something like that on youtube and it will show you videos of ups drivers literally throwing boxes from the curb onto people's porches from like 30 feet away and then sitting back on their fat asses and driving away. It's disgusting.

HAHA Yea I saw that one :p and I agree that there could be outside influence on some cases but there are too many reported issues (all the SAME issue) so I don't think its a shipping problem.

But yea the whole UPS thing is funny as hell he never even stopped his truck it was still rolling when he got out and through the package.

I got this from a retail store so it was shipped freight on pallets so less likely to be damaged anyway :)

You know, if you buy any brand of Geforce GTX 260, you will be getting the exact same hardware right? EVGA doesn't actually manufacture the cards themselves. They buy them from the manufacturer the same as BFG does.

I've had three EVGA cards since 2006. All have been fine and their warranty (once you register the card) is top notch. Sorry you had issues, but they are one of the best GPU companies around.
