Imbalanced core temps

How normal is it for an i7 920 to have drastically different core temps?

Idle-
44/43/42/39

Load-
72/71/69/68

Also-
I'm working with a 3.4ghz oc at 1.35 volt. does this seem high for that minor of an oc?

i live in san diego, and even still its not too cool, especially in my apt. so my ambients are probably at least 75 degrees.
 
Yes thats normal. Mine have 3 degrees different at idle and 2 at max.

When you say the ambient is 75 degrees is that f or c? If it's f then thats pretty amazing unless its phase change :D
 
On my, core 0 is 5c different from the last core. So under stress prim 95 it looks like this under coretemp

Core 0 = 89
Core 1 = 89
Core 2 = 85
Core 3 = 85
Core 4 = 83
Core 5 = 83
Core 6 = 84
Core 7 = 84

My I7-950 has always been like that for some reason.
 
I would not worry about a 1 to 3C difference at all.

For the last poster I can think of a few reasons.

1. Sensor inaccuracy.

2. Lesser cooling on one area of the chip. This could be due to not enough contact / too much / too little heat sink compound

3. Imbalanced scheduling. If the OS is favoring a core for some reason it will be warmer.

You're using speedfan? The i7 chips only have 1 sensor per core (so 4 or 6), whereas speedfan gives 1 per thread (8 or 12) for whatever reason.
Use something like the open hardware monitor which is more accurate and only shows the proper 4, is done by a member of the board and has next to no overhead.

That's why every pair of cores in his list shares the same temperature. His readings are accurate.
 
I dont know, my Asus Rampage III only shows 32 C for the cpu on idle. Thats on the Asus software monitor utilities. Compare to coretemp ranges from 40 to 46 on idle. I just play it safe and go with the higher readings.

The ASUS utility is not accurate. Core Temp is.

LOL. Actually, I'm sure an ambient temperature of 75C would be pretty uncomfortable for any length of time.
 
75 degrees Celsius = 167 degrees Fahrenheit

In the parents house the hot water heating system runs at 160F. Holding on to the pipes for more than a few seconds causes serious pain..
