When I check my stats page at Stanford, it shows that I have 24 processors folding... but I have only 23:confused:

Any idea what could be causing this?

 
Format one lately? Running more than one instance on a box? GPU and Regular for example, or 2 VMs on a Quad.
 
Mine shows 7 within 7 days and 14 within 50 days so :p

The VMs really freak out my processor count a lot....it's like stanford is getting different reads from me when i reboot my VMs

 
Nope... I had two that were down for a bit, but they're back up now, and that accounts for them showing 26 in the last 50 days.. but no matter how many times I count my clients, I'm coming up with 23.....and no VM's... weird...

 
I dunno then. Over the years, I have found the count to be very accurate. It's been a long time since I had 23 machines to keep track of. Even when I did though, they were all in the house somewhere. lol

Oh, one other thought. If you are folding from a live cd/dvd, that machine will get a new ID every time it restarts.

Or someone's screwing with you.
 
In direct contrast to Killer :p, I've found the count to be completely wrong most of the time.
Sometimes 10+ processors off.

Now Since Killer is a bright guy, it's possible that I'm just an idiot. Or it's possible that he's just been lucky. ;)
 
Back in the day ... we used to do things like ... covert folding for another teammate. It used to get some folders all weirded out ... "OMG! All of a sudden I have 10 more cpu's folding for me ... what's going on?" Funny as hell. I think that might be what has relic convinced that the count is always wrong ... at least in his situation.

IIRC, I had enough CPU's at the time to hold you all off. :p

There was a time when I experienced a big jump in points. It had me scratching my head and puzzled. Turned out I was the target of covert folding. I loved it! Makes me smile to think about my puzzlement.

I can’t remember a post that contained soooooooooooo many straight lines. I think relic was trying to bait me, made it to easy.

Rule of thumb on the CPU count is look, wait 7 days and look again. I really don’t see a reason for the 50 day count but hey, I’m not liberal enough to work at or for Stanford:rolleyes:;)

Yes I agree completely. I’m a tad past school age but that is probably a good thing considering some of the teachers I have met and tried to talk to.

Berkley and San Francisco are two places one dreams about being on someone’s target list. On the other hand, we would suffer more damage if they were not.:rolleyes:;)
 
Covert Folding Just Happens!

I was the recipient of some of that [H]ard kind of Love for awhile as well.

I was able to keep MixMan at bay for awhile... before we got joined at the ....wait, where are we joined at?

What the hell... now it says I have 25.....

I think my borg has started to spawn new clients all on it's own.... at this rate I should have over a hundred within a week or two:)

I was watching T3 last night.
Just as the machines took over, all the power went off .......... :eek:

Cost me 6 hours folding time and ~7K points.
