rogue_jedi said:it is indeed quite small... there's my bed (long twin or w/e you call it) then 3 feet from the edge of the bed to the edge of my desk. one end of the bed is at the door, the other is at the wall. the door is right next to the opposite wall. desk is about 3 feet deep, and 4 feet long. it is suspended between two dressers, each around 3 feet square and floor to ceiling.
the computers are both athlons... a 1.33 tbird @ 1.33 cause i can't OC it (crap mobo) and a 2400 mobile @ 2.3. both are at 100% load all day (courtesy of UD at this point, i haven't checked whether F@H works through squid or not recently) gets pretty hot at night when the AC shuts off.
also, i'd add more computers if i could do so without tripping the breaker. i'm riding on the edge as it is... i can't run the vacuum at the same time as my boxen. so i don't vacuum my room (or i plug it into another circuit) i do wanna put duallies in tho. pick up a pair of 1.8 durons and a k7d, and upgrade the tbird a bit... by which i mean install the duallies, and relocate the 1.33 and its mobo.
then i'd pick up some opterons to give the main box a boost... but first i need more disk space
well, that and a job.

Imitation, just out of curiosity, how many points per day (PPD) does your Pentium3 733 average? Some people say they are good at folding.Imitation said:But since I have a job I've got a secret borg weapon on my desk there, a P3 733!It folds tinkers like they're going out of style!

~Thanks
You can eaither open the log file and read how log it takes per frame on average, then multiply times the total frames, that should give you the total time it takes for one WU, then divide the points by the total time in days to get PPD.Imitation said:HAHA haha haha Now that is a great question. It's been folding for me for about a month now and it just turned in its 2nd tinker I think. Now granted this is my work machine and it is paging off the hard drive 24/7 cause I only have 256megs of ram. If you could tell me how to figure out the PPD for it maybe then I could tell you. All I know is that its balls slow compared to my other 2 boxen.
Imitation said:Towert7, this machine (P3 733) took roughly 8 days to finish a 239 point tinker. Its a very poor estimate though cause its not folding 24/7 and I use it alot during work hours, and having EM running along with everything else would slow this compy down even more than before. So if that helps you any, great. If not I'd go find one to play with to see if they really are good folders or not
edit: btw I got 8 days by goin thru the log and guestimating the time by counting up the hours. So 239/8 = 29.8 PPD
towert7 said:Yea, that sounds about right.
I have a P3 800mhz computer. When I used to use it for my main computer, it would average 32 PPD, but now that I have a new computer, its putting out about 45 PPD. Does'nt seem like a heck of a lot of points... so I was just curious if mine was diffrent.
sandmanx said:My dual P3 464Mhz box is crunching 2 249 point tinkers now. It's got 150 hours left on each of them with 195 of 400 frames done. It's roughly 19 PPD per processor, and they run 24/7.
These are katmai cores(think off die L2 cache running at half speed) though, so they must be less efficient than the coppermines. That makes me wish I had a pair of slokets to run the P3 550 coppermines I have in the drawer next to me.
