Ideas on a good digital camera?

My wife has an older digital camera. She doesn't care for it. The shutter speed sucks, and a lot of the pictures come out blurry.

She doesn't take studio quality pics, but I would like to get her something that has a fast shutter speed, and can handle some movement without the picture coming out blurry?

Is that possible without spending 400 bucks?

If you want a truly pocketable camera that gives you good image quality and full control over your photography, the Canon PowerShot S95 is an excellent choice for budget around $400.

+1 on the S95, awesome little camera with DSLR power.
Can go up to ISO 1600 and allows for faster shutter and usable prints

Sony WX5 is also a good choice, though the S90/S95 are better (and more expensive). Panasonic LX5 is also good (and expensive). The S90/S95 are said to not be as good in full auto mode, though, so possibly discount them if she wants something simple. If so, SD4000 is a good choice.

Does she want video? HD?

blurry pictures could be due to how the camera is used as well. of course, better cameras tend to do much better. i agree with s95.

anything nikon offers would be a good choice. you get alot for your money

I can say stay away from the olympus stylus cameras. they have a huge display at best buy and are water proof and shook proof. It's tough but you cant charge with usb and nowhere does it say this on the box or specs and it uses XD cards that frankly SUCK. Worst choice of cameras I ever made.

Lots of cameras do not charge via USB, though the XD thing is a little dumb, I guess
