Ideas for an upgrade?

Ok, it is going to be a while before I rebuild my PC, so I am looking for a idea on parts to upgrade what I have (mainly a video card).
Right now I have PIV 2.4GHz, 1.25GB Rub RAM (I know, not much I can do there), ATI 9700 Pro128MB, and 80GB ATA 7200 HDD.

I am thinking my best upgrade right now would be a video card. I know what I would get if I was going to replace the MB and and go with PCIe, but right now I only have APG. So what should I start looking at for an APG and around what price range will I be looking at?

i would say try a 6800 GT or a 6800nu like the 6800 OC by bfg.

it all depends on how much you want to spend.
 
nope.. 6800GT is one hell of a card.

if you have money to blow look into a 6800 ultra but personally id try the GT
 
How about brands? I see that the same card can be over $100 more ($270 vs. $390) and all I see is that a dif. company makes them. I have always been an ATI guy, so what brand should I go with and what should I stay clear of for the 6800?

I don't know guys, I own a 6800 GT, but isn't the X800XL from ATI the king of the 'bang for the buck' hill?
 
You can usually find the X800XL a little cheaper than the 6800GT. I got a X800XL for $235 in the forums a few weeks ago.
