I am running two Kingston HyperX 3K 120gb SSDs on Raid 0 with my GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard that has the ICH9R SATA2 chipset / raid controller.

On Windows 7, I was getting and average benchmark read speed of 520mb/s from HD Tune Pro with a maximum of 580mb/s.

I just clean installed Windows 8 Pro, ran HD Tune Pro and my average read speed is now around 200mb/s with a max of 225mb/s.

I have tried rebooting, and installing Gigabytes older Window's 7 ICH9R raid drivers, but it hasn't made any difference.

Just for reference, I also have 2 Mechanical HDDs on Raid 0 and in Windows 7 they averaged around 200mb/s and on Windows 8, they are getting the same 200mb/s.

It seems like Windows 8 is having a problem with getting any more than 200-225mb/s with ICH9R on Raid 0. Any ideas? Suggestions? Anyone else have a similar problem?

I like Windows 8, but I can't use it if it cuts my hard drive speed to almost 1/3 of what it used to be!

Ok, I solved the problem. I would delete this post, but I can't.

Maybe it will be useful for someone else.

It seems Windows 8 ships with some older Intel Matrix Storage Drivers.

I downloaded the lateset (11.7.0.1013) Intel Matrix Storage Drivers from 12/3/12 and now I am back at full speed with the SSDs on Raid 0.

Windows usually comes with the default MS drivers.

Sounds like they're pretty poor but I always install the Intel drivers anyway.......just like you. :)

That's pretty much a given.

Had you not replied every single one of us would have been asking you if you've installed the latest Intel RST drivers.

Never, never, never stick with the OOB Windows drivers for ANYTHING unless you just have no other choice. I don't care if you're running RAID or just plain ATA/AHCI.
