Most of the people around here seem to build their own systems, but I was just wondering if any have ever bought from ibuypower.com ?

I recently purchased a system and they have not been treating me with much respect. - When I call to inquire about my purchase status, they put me on hold for extremely long periods of time. 15-20 minutes. Finally when I get through, the customer service representative tells me that it will ship in approx 2 weeks. :( 2 weeks?

I ordered this computer on Nov 24th ! - I paid extra for the tier 2 rush service. And it won't ship til Dec 11, or 12th. After complaining for a while, "Danial" assured me that he would get my order processed ASAP. - So... hopefully it'll ship something during the week. *shrugs*

Enough ranting though, has anyone else have a similar experience like mine with ibuypower?

ok, i my advice is to cancel that order asap. i bought from them and teh unti was total junk, problems from the start. the wiring was a joke and after about 2 weeks i finally got a RMA and returned it 4 a refund. it then took 6 weeks to get my $ back. i then bought a velocity micro and have been happy. i heard bad feedback after i ordered the ibuy unit, and i wanted to believe that maybe the 1 i ordered would be ok, it was not. if you can stop the order then DO IT. every time i called there it was like, "yeah" for a greeting and it was impossible to get a straigth answer from someone that was semi-trained/professional. my post is not a bash session, just the facts of my dealings with them. there is a reveiw on this site that has poor ratings also.

Crap.. they already charged my card. *sigh* this sucks. I hope it doesn't take them 6 weeks to give my money back. My fianace fees are going to be insane. :(

Call them and cancel right away...then call your credit card company and get them to refund you. Depending on your credit card company, they will often protect you from jackass companies like this one.

If you want a detailed review of them, check out the [H]Consumer review of their experience with IBUYPOWER:

I looked at Ibuypower a few months ago when I was in the market for a new rig thought their prices were too good to be true....did some research and found out why. You get what you pay for which means, for them, no service for all practical purposes. You woulda been better off just building your own rather than be taken hostage by a shady outfit like them.

thanks guys, I sent an email to cancel, and I will call as soon as their offices open up monday morning.. :(

I'll just newegg the parts and hope that I can figure out how to install everything !

If you are concerned about putting everything together then you can ask for help here or check out the numerous DIY guides around the Net.

the first computer ive ever bought was from ibuypower and i had no problems with them. this was in 2000 tho

I have a laptop from them back 3 years ago. It's all screwwed up. It worked for a while, but it seems to overheat way to much nowadays. I've got a project that I was working on it with, but it's on hold ATM (too busy).
I'd never recommend buying from them to anyone.

If you're still interested in going pre-built, I'd consider AVADirect or ABS as very competitively priced alternatives that have both shown to have markedly better customer service and reliability in build quality. You can see articles on both of them on [H] Consumer.

That’s a really bad customer service. For comparison, I’ve ordered from Velocity Micro on Nov 14, paid in full, and my status hasn’t changed since. According to the invoice, my est. shipping day is at the end of the week. If people at VM work 6 days a week (off on Sunday), that gives them 4 days to build it, test it, and ship it to me, so I’m not panicking… yet. Kinda sucks, though. I was trying to beat the holiday rush and order my rig early, but that turned out to be a bad choice. I could wait a week or two, and get a better deal on the same system (when I configured the same rig two weeks later, not only did it cost $100 less, it also had better components!).

ibuypower = no good

Bad components that fail (fans even) and customer services is  .

dude very correct.
when i bought from them it was like 4-5 years ago.
i ordered an amd system and they were a little slow delivering to me. the system was a week late ( or like 4 days late)
but once i got the order everything was SMOOTH after that. installed windows and i never had a problem with the system ever since.

there were some "additional" things which i ordered where they were good at adding with no problems (extra power supply and not default psu, extra case fans, side window, etc)

like this person stated .....this was years ago. its sad that its gotten so bad because i recommended the site to people this year. that sucks. i think they are partners with www.cyberpowerpc.com because when i ordered from ibuypower the box that it came in said cyberpower. and the websites look the same.

another thing.
at the time that i ordered from them years ago the customer service was great. they knew that it would be late and they told me. i was mad but nothing i could do.

THE BAD:
at that time i ordered corsair ram. it took me 2 years to realize that the ram i ordered was not the ram they gave me. i ordered like a corsair with heat spreader.....at the time i had no idea what the hell it was but it was expensive and it sounded great. i ended up with samsung regular ram and 2 years later there was no way i could get my money back even though they charged me for it.

as a n00bie here i never get a chance to input my 2 cents so i thought i'd ramble about my experience.
sorry about your experience. hope u get your money back!!
i ordered parts from newegg and i will but attempting to put together a pc this time around. i wanted total control and i hope that you get your money back and do the same. everyone here is always great and helping im sure you will be able to do it on your own.

good luck

yeah.
i just looked at some old records.
i ordered from ibuypower but the box came from cyberpowerpc.com
they must be like cousins or something even with different websites.

get your money back.
order parts from newegg (or reputable vendor) and build or have a friend piece it together.

if i can do it (i ordered my parts) im sure u can certainly do it too.

again, good luck

Just wanted to say that [H] Consumer is basically "Buying Pre-Built for Dummies" :). Its basically a free buying guide....like Jason said use it and you cant go wrong.
