If I didn't require an ergonomic keyboard, I would be using IBM Model M keyboards exclusively. Best damn keyboards you can get your hands on. They last forever and take a lot of punishment. Also, the buckle spring keys give great feedback which is good for your hands and typing overall.
Because of the feedback on the keys, the Model M is about the only non-ergonomic keyboard I can use for more than about a half hour or so. Otherwise, my hands start killing me.
The model M can be used as a deadly weapon as long as you are strong enough to wield it. Also, it should work as a great replacement bumper for your car if the keyboard somehow dies.
I shudder to think of what will happen if my Model M ever dies. Buy a new one I guess, but I'm sure theres a realistic limit to just how long these things will last.
I still can't figure out, why can't someone reproduce this tech? I find it hard to believe that theres a greater demand for cheap keyboards with blue lights than there is for a solid, well built, tactile click version.
Nice, the [H] committee has voted unanimously for the IBM Model M.
I have two of those. The first one got a bottle of water spilled on it and stopped working, so I went out an got the second one. A few days later, the first one started working again, amazing.
Yeah, electrical shorts caused by water shorts usually clear if you let the water evaporate. Only thing to worry about is damage caused while the short exists.
I'd go with a modern mechanical...more choices in key response and usually easier to obtain.
Have any of you used the Enermax Aurora? I've had mine for a few days and it's the best keyboard I've ever tried. It's built like a tank (heavy brushed aluminum) weighing in at nearly 4 pounds. The keys are very responsive and a pleasure to use. I'm a writer and am very particular about my keyboard. This Aurora smokes the IBM M.
