IBM says that the company will be making Cell processors available in mainframe computers soon. No dates or prices were given.

The powerful "Cell" microprocessor that fuels Sony Corp's PlayStation 3 video game console will be available in IBM mainframe computers so those high-performance machines can run complex online games and virtual worlds.

Looks like the cell processor is coming in fast as a useful processor.

I wouldn't mind having the cell cpu in my head. It would have to be better than what's in there now.

Now are there going to be IBM mainframe ads on TV where it's sitting in a room all quiet like, then starts rendering random crap for no reason?

IBM !=Sony, but it would be good for backups.

I'm just afraid of where the media would have to be inserted.. and imagine doing a backup while on the train and having to change disks? Eww.. Besides.. 50GB isn't enough to backup my brain :) I've got 35+ years of video footage alone! at 29.97 720x480 AVI that'd be a bit more than you could fit on one disk. Then again, my vision is kinda of poor, so you might be able to downsample it with divX.
