i7 970 downclocking?

rampage iii gene, i7 970, temps according to realtemp around the 70 to 80c mark, 1.26250v fed to the cpu, testing with prime95 64bit

under load realtemp shows the frequency dropping back a bit, im using 160whatever*25 for the current settings for it but no matter what it keeps dropping back to 158*25 under heavy load, i know the temps arent great but thermal status shows OK on all cores, any suggestions here? do i need to feed something more voltage? have i overlooked something i should know about the new 32nm i7's? idk im a little lost, it just WONT stay above 4ghz under load for me lately sigh

suggestions welcome
 
Are all 6 cores maxed out under "load." Mine jumps around a lot but rarely do I have anything maxing all 6 cores.
 
that they are, was using prime for testing earlier and it was jumping around, well, not jumping around, but under load it drops back to below 4ghz even though its running at over 4 when not under load... there must be something simple im missing in the bios i imagine to fix this or something i need to feed more voltage, i just had to up the nb voltage from its 1.1 stock to 1.15 to keep it playing nice today to get it over 4 stable with both cpu+memory+gpu under heavy use (xfire gpu)

arghhhh so hard to overclock this beast with all its hardware

oh and yes i can keep this box pegged under full load for quite a few hours per day under my normal working conditions, hence why i spent the cash for a hex core, now to just get it running faster :)
 
do you have turboboost on? the 970 has a stock multi of 24 but ur OC has 25x. i think i remember mine doing the same with the max multi.
