I just got my i7 920 and an Asus P6T Deluxe mobo and I have a question regarding the installation of the CPU. I have done many installs of s775 CPUs but this is my first LGA1366. I lined up the notches on the CPU with the notches in the socket and I am fairly sure it was flat in the socket. When closing the retention mechanism and then trying to lock the arm in place, there seems to be more 'resistance' than i am used to and the arm seems to have a slight bend in it. Is this normal for these LGA 1366 CPUs?

me too and it took slightly more resistance. More so, it was just different so I may just have been overly sensitive anyway.

I thought the same thing.. I thought something was gonna snap as I got closer to the locking mechanism. luckily when it booted up, I was all smiles

rock solid. I haven't rebooted since I installed it a week and a half ago. I also tried encoding h.264 while playing FO3. I couldn't tell it was even running. I haven't overclocked at all because coming from the 680i I want to relish it is as much as I can.
The chipset runs warm but nothing compared to the 680i (even with a chipset fan). random lockups really piss me off. heh So far so good. next upgrades are gonna be an SSD and fill up the rest of the banks with dominators.
