Now unfortunatly i have to buy my pc part slowly one at a time. I'm starting with items that really dont become old over time. like the case, PSU maybe RAM and storage but when it come to mobo and CPU i am wondering...... If i where to go with the haswell . And purchse a 4770-k now. Will intel put out anything that is between the 4770-k and the haswell-e at the end of the year. I know i wont purchase the E, but sure dont want to waste my money if something else comes out?

There is no in-between chip when it comes to the high-end mainstream chips and the enthusiast class chips, mainly because you're talking 4 cores to 6. Nobody knows how Broadwell will perform in the mainstream segment (if it even comes out this year), but the consensus is that Intel's chips year-over-year are only going to give us a 5% boost if we're lucky since it's all about the iGPU. I wouldn't even bet Skylake will be something extraordinary like we once believed.

If you are building out for Haswell-E you'll be fine. I bought a new SB-E machine a week before IB-E and I have no regrets, in fact I'd be kinda upset waiting 2 years for IB-E. It was pathetic. Also you can make up your mind over getting a 6-core or 8-core part for HS-E. Lucky.

Make sure you save up for a fat 500GB SSD while you're at it. No need dealing with RAID for two smaller drives and the price has dropped considerably. You'll be very happy when you pull the trigger.

Maybe a dumb question on the side but do you know if the haswell-e will fit in any socket available now?

Haswell-e has a new socket: LGA 2011-3. It's actually the same dimensions as 2011 but the pin layout is different. 2011-3 also brings in the Wellsburg chipset that will allow you to use DDR4. DDR4 has 288 pins compared to the 284 on DDR3.

So, as you can see you will need pretty much a new board.

Just curious will there be motherboards that will support both ddr3 and ddr4? I imagine ddr4 will be hard to come by and be a lot of money, it would be nice to be able to use ddr3 until ddr4 comes down in price and more main stream.

I would say no. DDR3 and DDR4 will not be on the same motherboard or even CPU generation. Remember DDR4 will be single slot per channel so haswell-e will most likely have 4 slots max.

DDR4 uses different signaling, interfaces, voltages, etc. So, no. Hopefully it will only be double of current DDR3. It's $159-199 for 2133mhz DDR3 for 4x4GB. So, maybe $400. Idk. Just a guess.

There were rumors a while back about a Haswell refresh. I don't know how credible they are, but there might actually be something in between a 4770k and Haswell-E

I always found this method of buying computers parts to make absolutely no sense. Instead of buying one part say every two months, you should save up to say $1,000 and build your computer then. This makes even more sense if you are worried about parts getting old or not being compatible.

Or DOA.

Do it or don't do it. If you wait, then buy, by that time there will be talks of a new gen to come out or are out. Would you wait again ?

It makes perfect sense if he is shopping hot sales and has a way of testing the components to make sure they are not DOA. I have done the same thing several times. I have bought cases, PSU, ram, storage, windows licenses, optical drives, even video cards if they were on fantastic deals. I would test them out in my old build to make sure they weren't DOA and then buy the motherboard and CPU when I found a deal on them and complete the build. Half the fun of the build was trying to get the parts as cheap as possible.
