Say I install a machine with factory media.
I will have to repeatedly go to windows update, search for updates, select them all, and say "go" sometimes saying "I agree."

What I'm hoping for is a utility that does this for me.... automates the updates over and over again until there are none left.
I know the Windows itself *sort of* does this with its automatic updates... but I want to manually invoke it rather than waiting for it to complete over a number of overnight update cycles....

I know of only one program like that, and it's licensed to the Geek Squad..

You could look at WSUS but pretty sure the computer has to be on a domain for it to work.

you could try one of the offline Windows Updates tools.
I can't seem to think of the name off the top of my head though.

edit: autopatcher is one.

you could create a QChain file for your OS CD's
---install OS
---run IE8 install, MPlayer install, reboot
----run QChain file to install all the patches
