I need a few good men er.... or women. Don't wanna exclude Mary. :p

p[H] and I have been talking about the whole subteam thing. I need a small group of you to scour the interweb and look for small teams that we can approach about coming under the wing of team 33. Also, if you visit any other forums that you know do not have a Folding team, we wanna know about them as well. If you have a good reputation with the admins of the site in question, feel free to contact them on our behalf, otherwise, post links here and we can organize an official communication from the [H]orde.

What about www.spywarewarrior.com? I registered there a few weeks ago to get some help with a friends pc. They dont have a folding team that I know of. I've been used my folding sig when posting there to represent our team. I've even earned the rank of junior member. :D

Letter looks good to me, althought maybe some more specifics about who "we" #2, etc, locked in the heat of battle. And like it was said yesterday, flattery will get you far, so maybe something suggesting why we've asked them, be it a member referral, or just stumbled in.

Possibly change the wording of subteam request to something like this:

I am inviting your community to join our official folding team. While your members would be part of the [H]orde (that's the name of our team), they would also be members of a sub-team that would identify them as members of your community.

I don't really need to volunteer, because I have a website/forum that have only have five members. It is my own side project but due to not knowing how to bring in people, I am stuck with a short list of five people.

Who I have stressed alone with what the program of folding does and hearing their reasons of why they cannot fold do I not push them into doing so.

I myself have my little folding team, I can only count on me, myself and I to make up this team. I'm not asking for you to join my forum, but I need help to bring people in.

I fold for team 33, 90% of the time, the other 10% goes to my team.
If you can help me out, thanks.

Why not just have them all fold for 33? You can still have a team.
 
I am not specifically interested in getting other forums to join, but I am interested in proposing a letter to my university. I am not the most tech-savvy person per say so if anyone wants to help me out with the requirement side of thing (i.e. energry requirements, upkeep of the program, how it would effect networking and bandwith, how other schools run it, etc...), I would appreciate it.
 
How does "sub-teaming" work?

I ask because the team I fold for is dwindling, but I don't want any of the users there to lose any credit if you see what I mean. Hmm, I just confused myself!

Anyway, they could well be interested, but I'd need more info :)

Qwertyman, I'd suggest taking a look at this post: http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1028212678&postcount=10 as it has links to some good resources that people have used to create letters, and powerpoints for F@H justification.

For your team, all they would have to do is switch their team numbers to 33...no points will be lost. The old points will always belong to the old team number, however once they join 33, the points will go there. Did I answer your question?
 
I think technically it would work similar to:

Well it wouldnt be under stanford's site, as much as it would be on our site.

The team Number would still be 33...

but in your tag could have like KodiakStar(XYZ) Team:33

so team 33, subteam (xyz) and then the filter on the website would pull everyone with

(XYZ) into a seperate stats page (think the pages for the contest) where its everyone under that so would have subteam total points etc etc,

of how it could work...
 
In order to be on a sub-team, they would have to do something extra--like register on hf.com--so King_N would be able to keep track of who is on this sub-team. I'm pretty sure Stanford wouldn't expend the energy to make it possible to track sub-teams through their stats.
 
I PMed King_N a few days ago about subteams, and he said he'd think about it but he was working on other things. It's not an easy problem; for example, what if you want to belong to multiple subteams? In any case, time will tell how well this works out.

 
I'm not sure how well it'd end up going, but here's what I'm thinking:

1: If it were done, we (as in we HardOCPers) couldn't stay ALL in our own subteam, [H] team or whatever. We'd slaughter everyone else; wheres the competition? We'd have to split ourselves up, I'd think.. Phantoms Folding Freaks subteam, or somethin', I dunno.

2: I sure wouldn't start folding under a different tag just to facilitate membership in a sub-team, and I probably wouldnt be the only one that wouldn't want to see their stats restart at zero. It's taken me a long time to get where I am :p

If we could get two or three other, sizeable, active subteams, could be interesting though. We could start the process by splitting ourselves up first, perhaps: AMD Folders, Intel Folders, Linux Boxen, whatever.

I dont know, sounds interesting though

Not everyone would have to be in a sub-team. Many of us would probably just stay under the [H]orde banner with no other banners next to it. Those of us like that would not be in the sub-team competitions.
