I’m a PC

I think thats clever and very subtle but it attacks apple pretty good. I can't stand the apple commercials.

I liked the Bill and Seinfeld ads much better.

Bill Gates's cameo in this one seemed pointless.

I thought it was a nice commercial. Some political stuff in there too, sure that will pick up a few extra customers.

Not like apple commercials with all the BS.

wow these ads are more thought out than those dumb apple commercials

Very smart! I actually like this commercial. I like the way they take on the Apple commercials directly. Nice work.

I gotta admit, that was far better done then I expected it to be.

Props.

Well played out. It shows that Micro$oft (on the surface anyway) wants to target a more casual market than "geeks".

that was a very good commercial. Kudos to Microsoft on this campaign.

To paraphrase a line from one of the all-time funniest movies (IMO) evah:

"In Microsoft's adolescent awkwardness, it blamed it on a passing Apple ad. BIG MISTAKE!"

Apple may not be perfect, but it has the Teflon "Hip" aura going for it... regardless of what you do, you are attacking Apple where it is strong, as opposed to reminding people of why Apple needs to attack you in the first place. If Microsoft does that, they give Apple the initiative in the battle to define what Vista is, and what Apple is. Give up the initiative, and you lose, that's been an axiom since Sun Tzu.

Microsoft needs to hit Apple THE OTHER WAY.... by showing (if I can make one last illusion) how it's "Hip to be square" and that sometimes the Hip gal can be just another pretty face, with nothing there but vacuum between the ears, so to speak.

In other words, in the end (going back to that great comedy movie) "I'm sorry Apple, but there's not enough beer in the world." needs to be the final rallying cry.

I liked it too. They didn't really discuss the features of Windows vs Mac, but it was still a good commercial. I miss Jerry though. :(

So what's the point? Trying to prove that Apple is wrong?

The Apple campaign has given MS a 'black eye' to many people, to the point that they think Vista just does not work when they have not even used it once. This part of the MS campaign is to target the 'I'm a PC vs I'm a Mac' apple commercials, showing that being a 'PC' is not bad like Apple likes to make it out to be.

If I were to use a computer, based on these pc/mac commercial's

i'd run out, and buy 12 macs just for myself.. one to use, few for display on the mantle.. hang a couple on the wall

and even though i'm kicking ass in warhammer online, via windows xp... i LOVE the mac commercials..

and microsoft's sucks ;)

Hi I'm Mac I'm now becoming a prevalent target of hackers and viruses due to my buggy Quicktime, iTunes, and Safari apps so basically I'm exactly like a PC except way more expensive and way less variety of applications and hardware!

The #1 rule is to never mention your competition. That's where Apple went wrong with theirs.

The new Microsoft ads take a HINT at their COMMERCIAL, but still aren't mentioning Apple's products at all, just Apple's commercials (and again- a hint... at that).

Not like Microsoft has lack of things to slam Apple with, just a singular example: Machacked in two minutes... Vista still standing.
Or, they could make stuff up like Apple does ;)

Very subtle commercial, I like it alot. Kudos to Microsoft for not stooping to Apple's level.

Better. I really didn't like the Bill & Jerry show. Would still like to see more than subtle humor out of Microsoft though (no, those Bill & Jerry commercials were NOT funny).

So what's the point? Trying to prove that Apple is wrong?
The point is that their competitors have been lieing pricks and here at MS we're showing you that they're lieing pricks without being lieing pricks ourselves. Here at MS we're normal people, not arrogant elitists douche bags. Brilliantly played IMO. They're hitting Apple where it hurts without resorting to Apple's tactics which are starting to rub people the wrong way.

I don't think Microsoft is making these commercials for the right people. A lot of you guys like it, which is good, but you're already probably fans of things not apple so you appreciate the tasteful ad. I bet most other people will find it boring and useless since it doesn't point out the ways in which windows is better than os x.

I really enjoyed this commercial. They didn't attack Apple directly which is smart. I'll be looking forward to more of these...

It doesn't have to. The average Joe doesn't buy a piece of electronics because it's better than another....they buy it because of an image, it's popularity, and because they recognize the name. Think about it, which was the better player at the time...the iPod or the Zen Vision:M? The Vision:M was the superior product by a country mile but it still struggled to sell against the iPod. People bought the iPod because it was a brand they were familiar with.....it carried a stigma. Now if you're say, my mother, and you're looking to buy a computer which are you going to buy....a Mac which has had mean and arrogant ads or a PC who'se taken the nice everyguy image? Lets face it, image sells....that's why Palin is the VP pick and not one of hundreds of people more qualified.

Hmm.. I don't know what to tell you buddy.

lol @ apple marketing.

They gave the term "PC" to microsoft. How dumb can you get. They handed them "Personal Computer" on a plate. I'm no marketing genius, but I wouldn't want to use the most well known term for a product in whatever market I'm in for the competitor's product.

I GOT that commercial. I'm apparently an idiot because I read here I needed to be "smarter" and "read into" the original 2 commercials. I'm sorry but in this case I'm on the side of the "general public" and those first 2 commercials made NO sense to me.

This one was direct and to the point... I liked the Tony Parker and Eva Longoria cameo...

the commercials not bad.. a little confusing and boring if you didnt know what they were talking about.. but it was only the first commercial out of this phase.. wonder what they have in store for the next commercial..

I'm a PC and I approve this message ...

I liked the commercial, subtle yet it make it's point well.

I'm a PC and I have a mustache.

And we all know people with mustache's are important.

This is very good.

Attacks the Apple ads without attacking Apple itself.

Very mature, classy, and clever.

Hi I'm Mac I'm now becoming a prevalent target of hackers and viruses due to my buggy Quicktime, iTunes, and Safari apps so basically I'm exactly like a PC except way more expensive and way less variety of applications and hardware!

No, the reason why Macs now have so many virus', exploits, etc is because of increased market share. Before, the market share was so low, why even bother? All OS's, and apps, have holes.

I think thats clever and very subtle but it attacks apple pretty good. I can't stand the apple commercials.

I agree, but they should have started this campaign half a decade ago.. They have just ignored the stupid Apple ads while they have become more and more detached from reality.. Turning the other cheek just isn't the right thing to do in the world of marketing.

"Vista crashes all the time"..."I can't get my printer to work".. "I'm having therapry because I've been using Vista" WTF  Last time I was on a clean Vista install, I just plugged in my printer, had it search for drivers online and 15 seconds later I was able to print. The only time I've seen a BSOD or had a crash was when I overclocked too far...

I GOT that commercial. I'm apparently an idiot because I read here I needed to be "smarter" and "read into" the original 2 commercials. I'm sorry but in this case I'm on the side of the "general public" and those first 2 commercials made NO sense to me.

Same here.. maybe it's due to cultural difference in my case since I'm from Sweden :p

Was good up until the punch line "without walls" HAH. Try re-writing anything in windows, good luck with that reverse engineering.

If windows has no walls, then GNU/Linux and BSD comparatively is the entirety of space.

Better. I really didn't like the Bill & Jerry show. Would still like to see more than subtle humor out of Microsoft though (no, those Bill & Jerry commercials were NOT funny).

Agreed.

When I first heard about this new ad campaign I was expecting a grade school mud slinging fight to start. Much better then I thought it would be.
