NEW REPLY TO THIS THREAD. I DO HATE DELL.
I bought an XPS M1530 laptop...Dell's high-end 15" screen laptop.
Problems I have had:
1. Over heating
2. Touch pad going out
3. Motherboard being replaced twice
4. DVD drive not reading any disc
5. AC adapter failing
6. Battery dieing prematurely
7. LCD hinge starting to go VERY LOOSE
8 and now.....my rant for #8.
THE DAY THE WARRANTY EXPIRES, MY LAPTOP motherboard needs to be replaced yet AGAIN. The AC adapter does not charge the battery anymore. The battery is fine, the AC adapter is fine, the motherboard is SCREWED.
I messaged Dell and they sent me an email telling me how to trouble shoot it. Great. So, I did everything and shot off an email saying nothing worked. I got a reply the next day saying that since my warranty expired there's nothing they could do. WHAT!? So, I got on chat and talked to a rep for 20 minutes. We argued back and forth about the date in which I sent off the email. Two (TWO!) hours later after a dozen or so email forwarding of proof that i sent the email when my warranty was valid and finally they said "as a courtesy we will replace the parts."
TWO hours of arguing because of one freaking day on the warranty.
Then, after all of this they have the balls to suggest I buy a $500 warranty from them, saying "it is in your best interest." Well, if the build quality is as shitty as it seems then of course I should get a warranty to fix future problems. But $500!?!? No thanks DELL.
Next time I'm going with HP, Sony, Acer or maybe even Asus. SCREW YOU DELL.
