 Just got a q6600 in the mail today from frys.com around $280.

Will be overclocking and keep a log with screenshots.

Not so sure what ram or motherboard I'm gonna use, friend already
has one of those gigabyte solid state badasses I can't remember what its
called something 33..anyways I'm tired I've been at work all day, heres whats up:

I'm probably gonna throw some basic ballistix 2gb ddr in there and get this badboy running
at 1333mhz. How is this thing on heat?

How far can I push it?

Any guides/links out there anyone may konw about?

I hear P35-based boards such as the Asus P5K Deluxe work EXTREMELY well with quads. I just got mine on the same Frys.com deal in today, but I'm on a P5W DH Deluxe, so I won't be getting a new board :). The Q6600 runs hot, but not exceedingly so, especially with later steppings such as SL9UM (B3) and SLACR (G0). You will need a good cooler, though, to overclock much... you won't get far with the stock one.

I'm running mine at 3.0. On load it will reach 60 but otherwise no, its not running hot imo.

I'm using a GeminII cooler with (2) 120's.

I HAD it running at 3.2 with the same temps but there was no performance increase in CS:S so I scaled back a bit.

Arg, they seem to run very hot on stock HSF. I want to hit 3.2 without it hitting higher than 60.

Cool... guess that's today (the 12th). I'll keep on eye on this tread for the results. I'm sure you'll be happy.
