What card should i buy for games like EQ2 and doom3 - the 9600xt 256meg or 9800pro 128? If this is a stupid question for you all, well, ill just feel more comfortable in the confidence of your answer. BTW, feel free to post why.

Radeon 9800 Pro by a landslide victory.

Double the memory bandwidth, double the pipelines. It will own the 9600 XT. Don't believe me? Look at the benchmarks floating out there.

Radeon 9800 Pro if you're going this way. I probably shouldn't have to repeat it a third time.

Definitely the 9800 Pro. The above mentioned reasons are enough. Besides, the extra 128 meg of RAM on the 9600XT won't do much for performance.on that card. I don't think the 256 meg versions of the 9800 Pro even offer much more performance over the 128 meg versions.

9800pro for all the reasons stated above. Make sure it really is a 9800pro though - a pro will have the 256bit memory bus. If you're feeling adventurous there's a moddable 9800SE (to9800Pro) for 145 thread in the Hot Deals forum.

9800 pro

9600XT is a great card (mine is clocked at it's speeds) but the 9800 pro stomp' it.

'nuff said

Did I hear an echo..... 9800 Pro

This card will definetly be able to run Doom 3 and EQ2 at very acceptable framerates and quality.
