Im just saying year after year there used to be a ton of Posts in here with New Threads going up by the minute. And now there are barely any threads to even read, its kinda depressing, I am still using Amd processors as well as Intel and i hope soon AMD gives us something to be excited about again.

My thoughts exactly. I've been reading this board for a few years and can remember this board at it's peak (around the debut of X2). I suspect once Deneb comes out, this board will increase, but don't count on it's X2 level for a long time.

They started sucking, that's what happened. My first 3 custom built machines were AMD (Socket A Athlon 1Ghz, Athlon XP 2200+, Socket 939 Athlon 64 3500+). My current... is not for a reason. Both my laptops... are not for a reason.

Much the same reason my graphics cards (3DFX Voodoo 3 -> Radeon 64MB DDR -> Radeon 9700 Pro -> Radeon X800XT) aren't from ATI. They started sucking too.

AMD were the flavour to have for quite some time, I was AMD only since PIII days up until Jan this year.
Now its Intels turn to get the attention, their CPU's are really quick/clockable and get the best out of the fastest graphics cards.
AMD need a better CPU, especially with Nehalem here.
Nehalems performance in SLI/Crossfire is what we have always hoped for.

I hope they achieve something along the lines that you mentioned.

I am going to get an AMD setup for my current planned budget build and gradually upgrade to intel as prices drop on the X38/48 chipsets.

So far I am in love with the ASUS Maximus II Formula but its worth my entire budget for now LOL

Well at least they are still strong with their GPU line, right now. Hopefully they will be able to focus more on development now that they separated their Fabrication business, but who knows. It could go either way.

AMD kindapped and ate pxc and Scali2's family. Nobody loves AMD anymore.

:D

Ya just kinda sad but true... I might build my next rig using AMD just cuz i feel bad.

I'm curious though: Are posts here pruned/auto-deleted?

I see in other forums, some threads are still around, even older ones, but here, no.

Is that done on purpose?

I donno, AMD is making money hand over fist with the RV770, I think its probably one of their only really profitable products.

Intel's integrated graphics are a joke to the industry, and 780G puts some very impressive numbers up. Combine with the fact that AMD is still very compeditive on the low end; most of the PCs im putting together are AMD chipsets with AMD processors.

To the enthusiast however AMD has very little to offer.

I plan on trying something of an upgrade this x-mas and if its true that Intel really plans to just skim the market this x-mas (lowest proc SKU $350, lowest chipset MSRP $200?), that money will go toward a new graphics card and I'll aim for gesher.

Yup. Keeps them for posterity and future internet historians. Though the forum troubles during the latter part of 2007 caused a few thousand threads (assumption) to be lost.

I happen to like AMD more than Intel, but seriously, AMD needs to get their act together, fast. At least I hope their 45nm Phenoms will compete against Intel's new CPU's or whatever.

At least ATI got their act together and managed to defeat NVIDIA this round. Now AMD needs to learn something from their partner and fight back.

The only real reason to go with an AMD setup is for the Overclocking utility and the cheap unlocked processors, in my opinion, plus the price point. That being said, I will probably be building a system on the 790FX chipset in december/january, mostly because I want to play with the overclocking utility, and I like to have as many chips from the same company in my system as possible. (I know, Im a little odd, though when intel finally gets around to releasing Larabee, i will probably try to build an all intel system as well.

I built my latest system with AMD and I love it. But If I had it to do over again I'd of gone C2Q.

Well it seems most games still run great with the most current Amd offerings but $ for $ Intel has them beat right now.

I have a amd rig running right now,oh gotta go usps man here with my E8400 and rest of my intel build parts

I like amd for the cheap stuff. You can build a good pc for cheap, just for web browsing and burning cd's/dvd's amd is good

When I started getting interested in PC, most of my friends were raving about AMD. When I actually started building PC's, the core2 came out and there were little reason to go with AMD. I've always wanted to build an AMD rig, but right now they've nothing that could part me from my q6600. Really wish they come up with something that would be on par or beat the i7.
