I Do Some Dumb Things...

I liked the first movie and the follow up when Paul Rudd played the Ant (think it was one of the Captain America movies Civil War?) Not sure I'll see it at the cinema, but will catch it eventually.

Smart ass rant over. I know you're just fucking around, too. :) This looks cool. I thought Ant Man was going to be dumb, so I waited a long time to watch it (same with Spiderman: Homecoming). Marvel hasn't made a MCU movie that I haven't loved. Guardians of the Galaxy was probably my least favorite, but I still enjoyed those. This looks like it'll be good (Evangeline Lilly is fucking smoking hot, too!).
 
Pez dispenser had me rolling. I gotta watch that movie. :)
 
The constant action gag of blowing things up and shrinking things just doesn't get old to me. I think it's great how she threw a Pez dispenser as a defensive weapon, and how the van shrunk and then grew back large to throw off pursuit.

The building was a bit much, though.

Its almost 80's Transformers level of crazy physics defying BS and I love the movie for it. Other comic book movies have tried to be super serious and explain shit while Marvel is over here like "You know what? Fuck all of that bull. This is based on a comic book, let's embrace the batshit insanity".

The first two Thor movies are the only MCU movies I thought were not great. I don't think either were bad movies, but they had a lot of problems and if not for some outstanding comedic timing from Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston's Loki feeling like he just walked off of a comic panel those movies would have fallen apart. Dark World even more so, though it did have Christopher Eccleston chewing scenery like he hadn't eaten in months so that helped as well.

Yeah it seems to only use that when it's convenient of the plot, like in the first movie when he first turns into ant man and falls on the tile floor it cracks, the ONLY example of it in the movie. Then he can punch with the force of a normal person, lets ignore the fact at that size his fist would be like a needle going into everything he punched. But ummm yeah, lets not think to hard and just enjoy all the flashy effects

Its a comic book movie that revels in being a comic book movie. Its ridiculous, but that's the fun of it.

Oh I know, and I'm not saying they need to obey laws of physics, just obey laws of consistency. Like if he punched a person and the person was like "UGH! that hurt", then later on in the movie he punched a tank and the tank goes flying, at least be consistent with whatever wonderous powers they have.

Well at least Marvel isn't Dark knight on all its characters, they are becoming a bit cartoony though..... Oh wait they are Disney now....
 
Just based solely on the movie title, I laughed a little and said "This is obviously going to flop."

What year hasn't been a good year for MCU? Personally, I have loved every single one of the MCU movies. The Incredible Hulk was probably my least favorite, but still a good movie to me. The characters, the plots, the dialog, the comedy, the colors, the music, they just all get me excited from start to finish. Lots of fun, and that's what it is all about, really.

Don't they actually use that in the previous film? Like for whatever reason he still has the same amount of mass/momentum when he's tiny. I would think that tiny building would be immovable.

I can appreciate that. I feel the same way when I see the newest 3 Star Trek movies. JJ just doesn't know how to make a proper Star Trek movie.

Same here. I guess I should have typed.. "it's going to be another good MCU year". ;)
 
I enjoyed Ant Man. The only movie based on a comic book character I watched in recent years.
