I can't download any work

I turned off my SR-2 to swap out a video card. I used ctrl-c to shut off folding and I lost the work unit when I started up again. I am running Ubuntu 10.* according to the instructions here.

But I can't seem to get any new work. I get the message about connecting okay, but then waiting and waiting for some work. It has been 36 hours with no work.

I deleted some files in the fah6 folder: all in the work folder, but queu.dat.

Should I just start over? Remove everything? I don't know what else to do. My SR-2 is idle.
 
I would removed queue.dat, unitinfo.txt, machinedependent.dat, and work folder.
 
Okay. I will delete some more stuff.

I've got some things in there I don't understand like the Kraken.
 
Actually keep all the '*.exe' files or you will have to reapply thekraken last.
 
I deleted most everything and started over.

I still can't find any work.

Try to disable proxy in config to see if you can connect to server ....
if you can, then check if langouste is not running ....
 
I do not know how to do what you suggest about proxys and langouste.
 
This looks very weird. Looks like WU gets downloaded but client immediately
discards it (doesn't even start the core).

Smells like a bad WU/short read from the server...

To sbinh's point (re proxies and Langouste) -- how does [http] section in your client.cfg look like?
 
Reboot and see if that clears it up. No guarantees but it has worked for me before
 
I deleted the FAH folder and started over with a folder also named FAH.

I need to enter my passkey.

How does things look?

Did I get the correct WU?

Thanks for your help, gentlemen.

I will get home tonight and load up my passkey. I am going to scout camp for a week and I need to be folding while I am gone.

A simple swap-out of a GPU really borked me for a week. I lost a WU that was nearly complete, and then no folding for a few days.

KMac, I will try and get some Kraken / Langouste going soon.

I am having the same issues again.

This time I deleted only what you guys told me to delete.

I would remove queue.dat, unitinfo.txt, machinedependent.dat, and work folder.

It is currently 34F outside. I turned on the whole-house natural gas heater tonight. I could not take the cold any longer.

But I would like to heat my house with the SR2.

Any ideas?

How about:

If you have Langouste, verify that it is running. Be sure that you have edited the /etc/rc.local file per the musky guide to ensure restarting Langouste after a reboot. I didn't do that once upon a time and paid the price of getting no work. I believe that I got the

If you dont have Langouste try not using a proxy in the FAH config.

Remove the -bigbeta and -bigadv flags and see if you get any smp work units.
 
I'd stop messing and just reinstall the client again, its quicker than troubleshooting each time, however i will concede that it must be annoying - you are in need of a linux guru......
 
I had this issue. Got sick of figuring it out. Just did a clean re-install of everything, including Ubuntu.
 
I had a similar issue last night. I think I screwed up langouste. So I took off the proxy and deleted all langouste files for a quick fix.
 
was it server 199.96 ?

Cause i woke this morning to find mine doing it too. I switched to win v7 for regular smp.
 
update:

yesterday morning I woke up and fah6 -configonly was working. It was waiting for my information. I am not sure why, but I could not run configonly in a reasonable time the night before. I had the same error message about unable to connect to the server. Anyway, I added my info (but not my pass code).

I started up the fah6 and it gave me the same error message and I went off to work for the day.

When I got home I saw that the boxen was crunching 8101. It was 26% complete. I ctrl-c'd to enter my pass code. When I started again I lost my WU and started 8101 from scratch. Ack!

However, it is folding now... better than it was before.

Thanks for the advice.
