The past two weeks have been hell on me, and it couldn't come at a worse time, soon before DooM 3's release.
It started when my ASUS A7N8X only ran Prime95 for 6 minutes. I instantly though, hey my RAM was defective before, maybe after the RMA I got another faulty pair. I ran memtest for 3 hours without a single error so I know that my RAM wasn't causing Prime to stop after a short time. The next day my CMOS fails and I am unable to save anything in the BIOS, even after replacing the battery.
I decided to buy an ABIT AN7 but that ran Prime 95 for ZERO minutes and games crashed like crazy. I RMAed that and bought a NF7-S v2.0 but when I received that and got the same Prime 95 and game errors I bought a 430w power supply from Antec in case that was the problem. That didn't work, Prime still ran for less than a minute so I told myself, the RAM is fine, I've been through 3 differnet motheboards and tried a different quality PSU and I have the same problem, it HAS to be the CPU.
Just today I got another desktop 2500+ in the mail and put it in my system. I crossed my fingers as I hit start on the torture test and less than one minute later I got ANOTHER FAILURE!!! I was thinking ok, this HAS to be my memory now so I go into the BIOS to see if my PC would boot at 205FSB, I got continous long beeps which means DRAM isn't installed properly after the CMOS saved. I took out my RAM and swapped it with my tried and true 256MB HyperX BH-5 modules which have NEVER let me down and they wouldn't even boot so I know that something is funky with the motherboard.
I go to the ABIT website and download the latest BIOS and flash my PC, and here is where I get f***** hard in the a**. After I discovered that my PC would no longer boot I went on my P4 rig and went to the ABIT website and I froze as I saw the lines *For v1.0-1.2 ONLY*. Ok now my BIOS is hosed, gotta send it to get fixed.
Anyone know what the hell could be wrong with my PC if Prime 95 lasts less than a minute after swapping RAM, PSUs, CPUs and motherboards?
If it continues after I replace the motherboard again and update it CORRECTLY should I do something like sledge my entire computer or does anyone have a suggestion?
I already tried things like increasing voltage and such, and my CPU temps are 38C idle and 43-45C load. My case temp is around 22C. Does God just hate me or something?
