HTPC screen setup

Ok, I have been trying to setup a HTPC for my living room. I have a 36" Sony Wega. It's not HDTV so I'm just trying S-Video output. I have an ATI 9200 in the PC and I fired things up and got bending in the upper right and upper left. I was really confused about all this and checked the ATI properties and actually just expanded the the sides to where I wouldn't see it anymore. My desktop resolution is 800x600 at 60hz. I also noted some bowing at the bottom of the screen (last 1/2" or so in the middle) that no expanding or moving fixes. Should I try a custom resolution closer to the TV standard resolution? Is powerstrip an option?

Anyway, my next question is about TV tuners. I have a cablebox for digital cable. Is there a TV tuner that would natively read the digital cable signal or is there a place I could purchase my own digital cable box so I could have two digital cable boxes and watch and record two different shows?

I essentially have all my hardware for my "beta" version of my HTPC but am trying to get everything to work nice before I throw down the money for the smaller and more powerful version.

I initially used a GF3 s-video and it was much worse.

If I fire up my toshiba laptop and do s-video out to the TV, I don't get the bending at all and I believe the bottom bowing isn't as bad either. Could this also be a problem with the ATI card?

youneed to get the cabel box from your cable company. You will also need an IR transmitter to control the cable boxes from the HTPC.

you could just use the basic cable for the second tuner. just put a splitter in the line before the cable box. you would lose your digital channels for the second source, but it is an option. but then again, a second box is usually about $5 a month.

yeah, that's an option. Right now, I'll just have one tuner card on the HTPC and use my crappy Leadtek 2000 deluxe on my main PC. The video quality on it is horrible (by my standards)

Now if I can only figure out the video out stuff...
