I am looking to build an HTPC with the following functions:

1) Rip Bluray/DVDs for storage in a NAS
*I already own a bluray drive

2) Playback seamless 1080p ISOs from a NAS which will be streamed through Windows Media Center


Do you guys have any suggestions for the following parts?

1) Case

2) Motherboard

3) CPU

4) Low profile graphics card or possibly one built onto the motherboard


The case doesn't need to hold a ton of hard drives since all the storage will be done on the NAS.

I am looking for the cheapest build possible for a moderate HTPC. I do not need something super high end as there will be no gaming on this system and at the same time, I don't want the minimum requirements just in case I run into any problems.

Current I'm using a Antec 300 case with a Corsair 650TX with an Intel I5 and a Asus P7P55DEVO motherboard. I bought these a year ago thinking that I was going to encode my rips and fill the case with hard drives, but I decided not to, therefore I am hoping that I can sell some of these parts and build a HTPC. Depending on the recommended specs of what I want to do, I want to see if its worthwhile to sell and rebuy cheaper parts.

I already own a BD-ROM drive. Essentially, I just want to be able to rip movies and playback seamless bluray ISOs from my NAS.

Total: $329 plus tax and shipping.

The HD 5550 can offload the decoding of HD content such as Blu-ray content as well as provide bitstreamed audio via HDMI should you have the hardware for that in the future. In addition, the HD 5550 provides better video quality than the HD 5450. As such, the X2 245 is all that you need in a CPU.

The NSK 2480 is pretty much the defacto standard HTPC case. And for good reason as you'll see pictures of it. The included PSU is more than enough for that setup. 2GB of RAM is all that you really need.
