Contrary to my old thead, my E6600 probably isn't dead, rather, the motherboard was damaged by the crappy heastink/fan it came with, and I'm looking to replace it. Any suggestions for a new HSF? I will be getting AS5, and I just want the processor to be cool, above all else. Room for overclockability would be nice too. Noise isn't a huge issue, my Antec P180 absorbs a lot.
 
the scythe infinity is new and worth a look. you can get one from heatsinkfactory. i have one for my 6600. otherwise there's the tuniq tower 120, the zalman or the scythe ninja
 
is the INFINITY better than the NINJA? Other than easier to install?

Wait a minute....Your motherboard was damaged by a heatsink?

I didn't read your old thread, but something is amiss here.

BTW, if you're saying your old heatsink didn't cool your motherboard good enough, you will want a HSF that blows down onto the motherboard....like the xp-120.
 
No, the mounting either shorted the mobo, or it pushed the processor a little and bent a few mobo pins. All I know is that after I re-seated the HSF, the board refused to POST.
