Unless you're getting artifacts or something similar, a digital signal is a digital signal... I've yet to see a difference. The cables might fall apart, pins bend or break, things like that... but that's all that can really make a difference.
Hi All,
If you're thinking about buying a DVI cable get it from monoprice.com. Here's the link http://www.monoprice.com/home/
What you want is a monster cable. Youll really be able to tell the diffrence over that digital DVI signal, those gold connectors pass the ol 0s and 1s so much better.
Failing that set fire to some money.
Depends on the card... My 7800GS has a DVI-D dual link, my GF's x1950 has a DVI-I dual link. See here for examples of each type of DVI plug: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dvithe std. port at the rear of any DVI video card, is it DVI-I or DVI-D?
I would question how long the CAT 5 was, were you comparing CAT 5e to CAT 5, etc... Network cable in general is built to a much lower quality than even a cheap video cable (DVI or VGA). It's a few twisted pairs of copper with some (thin) plastic over it. The connectors are cheap plastic and in even the most expensive ones I've seen (15+ years in IT, 5 of those at an ISP) you can pull the connector off with only a minor exertion of force. This is an apples to oranges comparison. Oh, and most network people I've meet would never take a pre-built cable over something they crimped themselves.I think there might be some differences. An $80 cable have better material in it and that can improve things. I tested a low quality network cable to a more expensive one. And with the more expensive I had much lower ping on the tests I did.
I read something about a console, I don' t remember fully if it was Playstation, but they pointed that the connectors where so bad or good I really don't remember that the DVD quality was really bad on any screen or good, just because of the input connectors.
You work for them or something? Looks like an advertisement.
How in the Hell does that look like advertisement?
