How to automatically synchronize the fans?

The Antec Solo case has a 120mm exhaust fan in the rear and an option for 2 92mm fans in the front. If the 120mm fan is connected to the Gigabyte DS3 motheboard fan connector, will the fan speed be automatically controlled by the motherboard? If that is possible, then where will the 92mm fans in the front be connected to so they are in sync with the rear fan? The speeds don't have to match exactly, but when the temps rise, I just want the front fans to speed up when the rear fan speeds up.

Does anyone splice the wires together so all 3 fans are running in sync?

that is completely unneccessary, they will all work together enough without being all weird like that. The 120mm actually probably pulls more amps than should be run off the mb header. It wont hurt but its probably not giving all the power the 120 could actually use. run the 92's of the motherboard, and the 120 straight from the power supply.

How do you tie the 2 92mm fans at the front together to connect to 1 motherboard fan connector? Thanks for the suggestions.

I wouldn't do that... But if you really want to, you could splice the Red and Black connectors together.

I have mine setup to vary the speed based on temp or processor load..

The VL System LIS2 Premium does it for me and looks pretty at the same time.

Thanks for the replies. From reading about the warnings, I'm worried about burning out the mobo, so at most I will connect one 92mm fan to the mobo and the rest to the psu.

The 120mm fan will not burn out the motherboard connector. However running all three off the same connector would be pushing it and I am glad you decided not to.

The power fan connector should be 4 pin (it is on my DQ6) and if you can find and buy a 4 pin (not molex four pin) PWM fan, I have only found them on supermicros site, the motherboard will automaticlly vary the fan speed. The are twice the money of a normal fan.

You could replace the rear fan with a fan that has a built in temp sensor, think both vantech and thermatake make them. But as the intakes would read the incoming air temp and not the temps in the case there is not much you can do. I have seen fans with a temp sensor on a wire lead. Those would work.

Perhaps an inexpensive fan controller with temp display might solve your concerns ?

There is also a program called speedfan that works extreamly well but I havent messed with it in a long time.

If your motherboard has 4-pin PWM headers, you can find both 120mm and 92mm PWM fans from: www.performance-pcs.com. A search on "PWM" will produce 17 different products.

Do note that 3-pin fans can fit onto the 4-pin headers per the following illustration:
www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-012074.htm.

Should you decide to purchase a 3-pin CPU fan, you may control its speed by selecting a BIOS CPU fan speed control mode of either "auto" or "voltage" (don't select "PWM").

I'm thinking of getting 2 92mm Antec Tricool 3 speed fans for the front. From the pics, it looks like it has 3 pins. The fans controllers are nice, but too expensive.
