How Quiet is an Exos

I got an Exos 1 as a throw-in in a trade, so I was wondering if I put it to good use how quiet it is while still providing reasonable temps. It has 3x80mm fans on top, and that just doesn't strike me as being quiet. If I jump to WCing, I want it to be quieter than my XP-90 w/Panaflo (1500rpm).
 
Depends where you put the Exos. Stick it in the next room and your golden.
 
The exos 1 is a very powerful watercooling system. Its got some trade off's tho, one of which is that its outside the computer. That will be a huge pain anytime you need to move the system. If you adjust the fan speeds to low you will still get powerful cooling and will have a low noise lvl. Once you get it you can turn it on without doing a full install. That should allow you to gauge its noise lvl.
 
Well, the thing is it has no coolant in it. I have a pack of coolant, but I don't want to put it in if I'm just going to have to take it out to sell it. That's my dillema.
 
On the lowest setting, the fans are inaudible. And I get anal about noise coming from my system. When I was running my Koolance system, the loudest thing was my Raptors. If you bump the speed to max, it does get a bit noisy though.

That's without the blocks...included is a $50 block ($30 or so used), A64 mounting hardware ($10), and the HDD block (useless ;) ). I'm flexible though with that price. PM me if you're interested, we can work something out ;). I just put up that price to see if anyone would take it. I might just keep and use honestly.
 
They're not loud at all. When you first turn it on the fans will spin at max speed for a second or two, then they slow down. To me its not so much of a fan sound but just moving air. I cannot hear mine running from the next room.

With that being said, my system with a Zalman 7700 is still much quieter.

if you have nothing on top of your case just bolt it or make a bracket to hold it ontop

Koolance makes a strap for on-the-go PCs that holds the unit in place on top of the case. I'm not exactly sure if it works with an Exos-1, but I know its made for the Exos-2. So it all depends on if the Exos-1 has the same holes for it or whatever holds it in place on the Exos-2.
 
It should work as the strap was originally made for the exos-1. Before I sole my Precision 650, I just had it sitting on top. It never went anywhere...
 
i have an exos 2 which has 2 120mm fans instead of your 3 80. , i have to leave the cold cathod lights on, so i can tell if it is on or not when i am not by it. mine is dead silent on auto, but i can crank it up to 10 and create the hailstrom of hailstorms

Ahh, I missed that.. in that case its a pretty good deal.. I'm currently building a whole HTPC setup with server based tuners and storage and a media pc for the living room and its consuming all my money right now. Otherwise I'd think about buying that off of you. If you decide to sell it really cheaply pm me tho. :)
