Tell how much space you have, specs of drives, etc. Why do you have that much? How do you use it? My info is in my sig.

2x 250gb Western Digital Hard Drives (8mb cache) OS/Software
1x300gb Seagate Hard Drive (16mb cache) Games/Downloads
1x250gb USB Hard Drive (8mb cache) Back up Music & Pictures

All 7200rpm

80gb Seagate - OS/Apps
250gb Seagate - Data
320gb WD - Video editing - External Firewire enclosure
120gb Seagate - Backup - External Firewire enclosure

770gb total

Currently:
3x160gb internal. One for OS. Two for movies, anime, etc.
1x160 external for random stuff
1x400gb external for backup

Total 640gb (1040 if i decide not to use the 400gb for backups)

1 x 250 GB Western Digital Caviar 8MB Cache and SATA I. [This drive is my only drive, and i have used it all. (2.2GB is left. ) so, i'm going to need to updgrade.]
My 250 is my only drive, and i do Photoshoping (getting better at it), Video Editing, Gaming, and I use alot of my space to store files that i'm editing for my servers. So i've come pretty close to the end of my drives storage capacity. (see above for how much is left)

To be added is in my sig. Reason: Ran out of space and i'm following a rule. If you think you need "So much" get just a little more. (and for 200 bucks less than circuit city. its a steal. :D)
This drive will pretty much be a common use drive, although i would like to purchase more drives and set them up for certain tasks. For example, One drive is for my Photoshopping and the other is for Video Editing. The next is for Games, and so on and so forth. Only problem is my current case holds 3 HDDs. (time to upgrade that too. :()

I am so behind. :p

Currently in the midst of reducing the number of PCs at my parents place in Germany. I am sitting in the middle of:
2x WD2000JB (200GB)
2x Seagate 7200.7 (160GB)
1x Quantum Fireball Plus KX 27GB
1x Seagate Cheetah 4.5GB
1x IBM DCAS 4.3GB
1x IBM -cannot read model number- 2GB
1x IBM DTTA 371010 (10GB)
1x IBM DeathStar DTLA-107045 (45GB)
1x WD1200BB (120GB)
3x WD5000YS (500GB)
1x Hitatchi 7K100 (80GB)
1x Fujitsu 30GB

You do the math, I am too lazy.

edit: add an 18GB IBM drive to that, just found it in an USB enclosure.
(ps. I have some additional drives in the USA)

WD800JB - 80 GB
Seagate 7200.10 320GB

Total = 400GB

Running short on space.. might get a new drive soon

Western Digital 74GB Raptor - Gaming and Application drive
Samsung 80 GB - Backup
Western Digital 160GB - TV Shows
Western Digital 120GB - Lossless Music

Total: 434GB

Have more than enough space, although my TV show drive is filling up.

2x 300 GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10

600 GB total for now. No backup drives yet. Once I scrape up some more cash I'll invest in some backup.

What I can think of right now..

1 x 500G Seagate Barracuda
8 x 320G Seagate Barracuda (RAID6)
3 x 120G Western Digital
1 x 80G Seagate
1 x 74G Western Digital Raptor
3 x 60G Western Digital
1 x 36G Seagate Cheetah X15-36LP
1 x 6.4G Western Digital

Assorted other drives and such that I can't remember in use somewhere on the network.

As far as why, multiple machines. Most of it is used as general storage, OS, etc. The RAID6 is the primary storage location for most things (Music, Video, DVR, etc).

If you've got a acouple of 120's or 250's SATA, lemme get a couple :D

Back on topic:
I've noticed that people stopped noting why they had all that space in the first place. I would like to see why some people have terrabyte rigs. :p

Wow, some of you guys have a shitload of storage.
Mines pretty small, all ide, one Seagate 80 os and apps, one 120 WD music, and one 120 WD for pics and misc crap.

And it's about 50% free, I don't think I'll ever fill it up.

I just had the 150GB in my box until I got Cox 15mbps cable, then I needed more power! er, storage.

~1.2TB in my HTPC 3x400gb, after my next bonust it will be 2.25TB (750x3)

~1.7TB in my desktop, 3x400gb, 1x250GB 1x300GB

I record HDTV and have all my movies on line. No, I don't need to have *all* my DVD's on line at one time, but it sure is nice :)

For christmas I got a bunch of DVD's including 3 'Series' sets. Thats alot of HDD space.

Eventually I will crunch them all down to h.264 (HQ-Slow) and it should take *alot* less space, but that takes a while even on a e6400 running at 3ghz.

How many of you with these monster 2TB+ setups live with parents?
Yes, and I am a recent college graduate. What's your point?

I don't. I never had nearly as much computer stuff when I lived with my parents.

No point, honestly. There are two situations *I* can imagine where 2TB+ of DVDs, TV shows, music and porn are perfectly acceptable. One is if you live with your parents and this is your entertainment 'system' in your bedroom - since there's one TV in the living room and 4 people wanting to watch different things. The other is if you have your own place but have a media center system connected in your living room/basement/theater room. I'd believe there are others but these should cover the two major situations.

10 Samsung 500GB SATA drives in a software RAID 5
2 Maxtor 300GB SATA drives for temp storage
