I Run MSN,IRC and xfire..
how about you?

maybe share your xfire usernames too so [H] Users can game together etc.

On all my Windows rigs...I run Trillian, because I contact with users of AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ.

When running linux ...I use Kopete..which does the same.

Digsby has AIM built in....

I run Digsby now with MSN, Yahoo, and Google Talk.
Also running X-Chat for IRC.

Digsby > all

And am I the only one who thinks this exact same thread pops up every few weeks?

I have accounts for ICQ, MSN AOL and Yahoo! IM, but I use Trillian so I only have to run one program.

0. I can't stand IMing, I haven't used a messenger of any sort for home use in about 7 years. I noticed some people seem different when they communicate via IMs, either they have more of a attitude and/or get more defensive and take things the wrong way. Some people just shouldn't use them. Personally I find it easier to pick up a phone, say what I have to and that's that. I do have to IM at work and I can't stand it, my boss lives for it, so fucking annoying.

pidgin for messaging
skype for conference calls with other managers (and L4d with the boss)

More Pidgin users need to check out Digsby.

If you can, tell me what about Digsby is better or advantageous to someone who only uses AIM and Gchat, prefers extremely minimal interfaces, and is already comfortable using Pidgin. Because just browsing their screenshots, I really don't see it. In fact, they look pretty similar to me, with Digsby being a bit more flashy.

All of my friends use MSN so I just run the latest Windows Live Messenger with Messenger Plus! and Messenger Discovery.

I like to consider myself a pretty open-minded guy, but digsby can suck my left nut. Their download site is blocked on the hosts file I use, so I unblock it temporarily (though that should have been a warning) - The "installer" is actually just adware that prompts you to install 3 diff kinds of BS before finally acquiescing to downloading the actual program installer. Once that's done, you have to create a digsby account to actually use digsby to connect to a real messaging service like aim or gchat. I didn't even bother. Pidgin FTW. I hope you like having the corporate thumb up your ass, criccio.

Pretty much...

I use Pidgin for MSN, Gtalk, Yahoo and AIM. I still prefer xchat for IRC though... i don't know why. Then skype for.. skype ( :D ) and (just cause) tweetdeck for windows, for twitter.

lol.... bitter much?

The digsby username allows you to login to multiple accounts at the same time. It also syncs your settings across all computers. Want to use digsby on your laptop? Just login and all your settings will be there.

Or just use portable pidgin running from your flash drive and no matter whos computer your on or where your at all your settings are right there, with no need to install anything

to each his own. Digsby looks better than pidgin, in my opinion. I'd rather have a simple username/pass.

I'd rather not be prompted to install a ton of shitware every time I install on another machine, and I'd rather not trust my logins to a company that fronts such crap. I can't speak to what looks "better" as I don't really care about that stuff. Pidgin is minimal and clean - suits me just fine. Sorry about the nerd rage but I really can't see how anyone can be a pimp for crapware like that. Besides, syncing is overrated IMO. Not to mention I'll bet you I can install and configure Pidgin the way I like it faster than I can install Digsby, period ;)

Digsby on the computer. BeejiveIM on the BlackBerry. I used AIM Ad Hack before I came across Digsby.

I switched from Trillian Pro to Miranda years ago. I too prefer minimalist apps, and preferred Miranda over GAIM back in the day.

Do you boycott TV shows/stations that air commercials for products you don't want? Gotta make money somewhere. The advertised software is easy enough to opt out of.

And I agree, to each his own, but your argument doesn't hold much water when you consider that the product is very well polished and capable.

i just use meebo (for AIM,MSN) instead of a client, but i do like the simplicity of AIM 5.9

That's a poor analogy. And to be quite honest, the only thing I watch on TV is baseball. I'm not exaggerating. And I mute the commercials. I'm sorry if the reasons behind my software preferences offend your finely honed sense of logic

lol.... as I said, to each his own. I guess your penis is bigger. Congrats.

Cute. In my experience it's usually the guys who say things like that that have something to prove. I merely stated my preferences and the reasons for them. If you can't handle that then maybe you should just ignore me, champ.

Wow. Still going? I get it. You like pidgin.

No, seriously. I did graduate high school. I understand your point. GG.

Well if you used your eyes, there is a link on the digsby page below the big shiney "Download Now" button that says:

Digsby's Download Page said:
Installing to a USB drive or secondary hard drive? Having trouble with the above installer? Click Here.

That is just the straight up installer. None of that Install IQ software involved.

So maybe you ought to consider sucking your own left nut.
