How is XFX RMA?

I've been having a LOT of problems with my video card recently. It's one of those first-revision 7900GT's, and after some reading up, apparently these have had a lot of problems with heating up and artifacting (which I am having). I've tried to reformat a few times and tried all sorts of drivers, to no avail.

I only just began gaming now after putting this system together last year (didn't have any time until now), but I'm pretty disappointed to see that the 7900GT isn't holding up in even the least-graphically challenging of games, i.e. Warcraft: FT, CS 1.6, Titan Quest. I haven't tried anything more graphically demanding (don't want to screw up the card too badly). The system is well-cooled, but I get artifacts no matter what so I've given up. Does anybody know what XFX's policy is on these first-revision 7900GTs? I mean, it's not technically broken, as games run, albeit just full of artifacts and whatnot. I'm not well-versed in RMAs, can anybody help me out? Thanks!

btw: how do you search in this forum, I'm trying to look for other threads about this =)

Sir your totally entitled to RMA your card :)

First of all, the problems your describing (artifacting) is indeed a manufacturing/design error of the 7900GT series and you are fully justified to RMA your card. The only "problem" is that they do not produce 7900GT cards anymore and most likely you will get a 7950GT or a variant of 8600 instead, which is nice for you.

To sum it up:

Your card is most definetly broken and you should RMA it immidiately, that is ofcourse if your warranty is still valid. And about the search, [H] has been having some problems with their forum, I think the search is disabled for the time being.

I had the same problem with that card. It was also XFX.

I used their help desk thing. A couple days later I got a reply asking about screenshots, etc. I sent those to him. A little talking back and forth for a few days and he authorized the RMA. I sent the card in a week later because I am lazy. 3 weeks later I received a 7950 GT 512 brand new.

When I RMAed my 7800 GTX right before 1/1/07, XFX did a great job in getting it back to me in time for a New Year's Eve LAN. :) Kudos to XFX!

Alright, that all sounds good. About the screenshots, I actually can't wait to show them some of the crazy artifacting the card is doing; I already have a folder full of them! Also, I read that for eVGA warranty, you had to register at their website or something to make it valid. Does XFX have something like that? If yes, I'm screwed because I didn't do any registering when I got the card. If not, everything is in order, thanks for the help!

You may or may not need the screen shots. I should be able to help expedite the process to minimize your down time. Please start a support ticket at www.xfxforce.com and them PM me the ticket number. I will see to it that you get taken care of quickly.
