I saw a link to memtest86, downloaded the .zip, created a bootable CD with file. I can see the file in windows mode, but when I boot from CD it looks like a dos prompt.

[DOS - DR] A:>

when I DIR I can't find the memtest file at all, what am I doing wrong? I never ram a memory test so I am totally clueless on this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

its not a dos file. download the .iso and use the "burn image" or Burn ISO" function of your CD burner software and it makes its own bootable disk.

Thanks Bill. I just talked to Corsair and then I realized that all I did was make a bootable CD befor. DOH

memtest is old and doesnt work with well alot of the new stuff. I always recommend a few superPi 32M runs and 8 hours of Prime Blend and Prime Large FFT. Top that off with a few hours of your favorite game and you are good to go.

have someone put several small objects on a table. look at it for about 30 seconds. turn away while your assistant removes the objects. the try to replace them in exactly the same places. wait a minute. oh, never mind..........
