How do I enable 3d acceleration?

Hello.

I was recently advised to get a radeon HD 6450 card to replace my failing Nvidia GT220. I purchased the card and now I cannot play diablo 3 or lineage 2. Diablo 3 tells me the card is not supported and I'm ok with that. But, the game I'd like to play is lineage 2.

When I launch that game I get the following error:

Please enable Direct3D acceleration. You can do this by starting dxdiag and enabling Direct3D Acceleration in the Display 1/2 tab after installing DirectX 9.0C (or later) and the latest drivers for your graphics card.

History: General protection fault!

The error log instructs me to enable direct3d acceleration. When I run dxdiag the option for 3d acceleration is not available. I've tried to find direct x 11 to download, and everything I try tells me I have the most up to date drivers. The Catalyst control center does not seem to offer any fixes. I've found a fix to check my computer>display>advanced and to slide the performance all the way to the right. I do not have that option either. Everything I've tried has not worked.

Can anyone help me with this issue?
Thanks.

Did you download and install the latest video card drivers?

Though it might be a case of a defective video card. The "0" reading of the video resource is a bit worrisome.

I updated direct x and it said I had the latest version already installed. Drivers were up to date, I've installed a few times, but, I found a beta version of the drivers on AMD's website. I installed the beta drivers and everything seems to be working now. I'll update my post if it crashes.

It seems to be working now with the beta drivers.

Thanks.
