a guide i was wiriting, and i made a discovery, so this shoudl be intristing
A duron 850 is old, but still usable. Many of you guys would use this laptop as a folding rig, but i use it as a rig for school. I recently heard a very bad noise coming from the laptop. This noise i was hearing was the cpu fan filled with dust, and i decided to take a few hours out of my day to reseat teh cpu in my notebook. I decided to go ahead and tear my laptop apart,
First i went ahead and removed the Ram from the notebook
To do this i went ahaead and removed the 2 screws to the cover for ram slots, and pulled out the ram
After this i went aheaad and screwed all the screws out of the holes on the bottom
Note: Also unscrew the screws in the back of the laptop including the ones by the screen
After this i went and tipped the screen completely back like this
After this you have to pry open the panel whare the power button and all the quick launch buttons are at.
Pull off this board, and disconnect any wires leading to the screen, and do not mess with the dip switches as they affect the type of display you are using
After this pull the keyboard out and disconnect it
After you do this, unscrew the screws that hold the monitor onto the notebook
After you unscrew the monitor, pull the tap pad and plastic off, and the 2 connectors that go with it for audio and power for the front lcd, you may need to unscrew a few screws, and thare is a ribbon cable for the tap pad itself
After this, you need to go ahead and dissasemble the metal support surrounding the laptop, and you may need to take out the HDD to take this off
Thare are a few screws that hold this together
After this, i tore off the hs/f to check the CPU
I had to unscrew these screws when i discovered the one screw kept turning as if nothing was connected to it when i cought this
While, all and all it is best buy who did this when my notebook was serviced 2 years ago under their warranty,
The notebook would smell funny, and they replaces the cooler, apparently, they overtightened the screw, and cracked it off, i in the meantime glued it back with epoxy, and now am contacting bestbuy corprate offices to notify them of this. I will make shure to tell everyone i know to take thare pcs, and buy thare pcs anywhere but bestbuy, reminding you, my family tends to spend a shitload on electronics, xbox 360s, ps2s, psps, headphones, hdtvs, monitors, cameras, and laptops.
More to come soon
