i had to set my overclock back stock for now cause its been so dang hot. even at stock clocks with my h50 the core is idling at 40C and it is 32C in the bedroom........ lol rediculous

i just felt i had to post this somewhere.. i dont even want to see what would happen if i tried converting some videos.
 
yea unfortunatly i live in an apartment and they only have a AC in the living room (that sucks btw). lol i freaked out earlier when i checked my temps. at first i thought somthing was wrong untill i checked the room temp
 
Nothing wrong with idling at 40C. As long as your load temps are manageable what's the problem?
 
I have the same problem myself. No a/c in the computer room. Generally speaking, if i put the computers under load the room will peak at about 33c. Living in suburbia isn't without its rules, so i can't put a window unit in or else i'll get fined 25 dollars a day.

Southern summers suck.

Do you live alone? If so, put the computer in the living room?

When I lived in an apt alone first thing that happened was my bedroom became storage. Next was to decide if the dining or living room became the entertainment center. Typically living room, but once the dining room was more convenient.

Landlords don't even get curious 'til they notice that you don't have a bed anywhere... One assumed I didn't actually live there 'til I needed my shower fixed...
 
I pay 580 a month for 800ish sq feet, and don't even sleep in my bedroom atm( it is storage sorta). computer is in the living room. Too funny.
 
Summer here in Ohio, we keep the thermostat about 80 F, Looking at my digital therm in our bedroom, its reading 79 F, It's a little hot for me, but the air is dry and tolerable and I always have a very quit fan on in the bedroom as well as ceiling fans in all rooms when needed, my wife is Indonesian and hates being cold, so the summer is for her... plus it does save on the energy usage. In winter, we keep it about 65 F, its a big 5 bedroom house, and heating it eats up the watts. Winter is my time, I thick I could live in the arctic no problem. :D

In the basement home theater/gaming room, its always in the mid to low 60's F year round, nice and cool for my main rig. Sorry for you all living in your hot boxes...

I agree

Mine currently idles at about 45c, using Hardware Monitor, it shows the max recorded temperature at 67c after gaming. I'm on a H50 too.

It makes no difference if your CPU is 20C or 90C. The heat load is the same for the same cpu and workload. I guess there is some added heat at 90C only because your cooling system is cranked to the max.
 
Depends where you live. In Pittsburgh the summer heat arrived about 3 weeks ago before that we probably had the AC on for 3 days this year.
 
Yeah true that. I've been in Wisconsin this year and started sweatin my arse off in March. Which is unusual for up here.

I notched my oc down a couple so I could re-enable EIST and C1E. Things are much better now. :)

Get a box fan or large rotating fan to set in the doorway. Even on low it should lower the room temp a few degrees.
 
well here you go... its a portable air conditioner, it will not hang out your window
 
had my comp in the basement. Was idling at 35 and went no higher than 60.

Moved to my room up on the second floor and it idles at 45 and maxes at 68. (it also decided to get super hot the days after I moved up).

Still very safe temps so what's the problem?
 
I have my computer in my bedroom and I have to turn it off or I can't sleep at night. Not because of the noise, but because of the heat! It's so damn hot even last night at 1am...ugh

And for those of you saying turn on the AC, I find it to be so, so much more wasteful than a fan - well I guess that's not me as much as it is fact, but hey.
 
My power bill because of AC is $280 a month, I live in FL so it's a necessity. I don't want to hear any whining about AC being wasteful :mad:

That isn't always the case. I know that the vrms on my 280 heat up quite a bit more over ambient during the summer.

Hotter components using the same electrical power do not give off more heat to the room.

My point is if your CPU uses 65W at 3.0 GHz and 1.15V running some application. It does not matter if the CPU is 25C or 90C. The total heat load for the CPU is still 65W. This is an oversimplification however because the resistance of the chip changes with temperature..

Rather than using a window unit you would get fined for, maybe you could look into the inside the room, portable A/C units like this:

All you have is a small vent in then window that doesn't stick outside, thus no fine!

wow sorry for you, that is crazzy kinds of suckage.

i payed 35 bucks for electricity for this last june bill here in Texas(keep AC at 70F~75F).

Like most people said, yes do invest into some AC the windows AC which I currently have for my room is amazing, the Las Vegas heat does against for me.
 
A friend of mine used to live in central Australia without AC. 40C and upwards in the summer, he didn't overclock but needed after market cooling just to keep things within reasonable temps at stock speeds.

I keep it at 74-75 when I'm home and 78-79 otherwise too :(

+1 to that; my bedroom became the server room.
 
Come live where I live. Free utilities! 3 portable AC units running PLUS central air. All running 24/7. Actually gets way too cold, even with all my computers running. I have to open the windows on some days to ....'get some hot air' in. :D
