Hot swap not working

I have a 2 TB WD green drive connected to my PC via eSATA. I initially installed Windows with IDE settings but I followed the guide for changing via the registry edit and then changed the BIOS setting to AHCI. Windows boots fine now but when I turn off the hard drive and then turn it back on, it doesn't show up in My Computer or device manager.

What could be the problem?
 
Possibly the AHCI registry edit didn't take. Also, make sure that you installed the storage controller drivers.
 
Thanks! When I did the registry change and restarted, Windows installed its own generic AHCI driver. I went to Asus' site and downloaded theirs and it works now. I'm kind of disappointed... this is the first time in over a year of use that Windows 7's auto driver install has failed me.
