Hi,
Does anyone have experiences regarding the Hitachi E7K1000? I might get one for my desktop since I'd like to try a Hitachi HDD and it has better warranty/MTBF than the 7K1000.C. I can get it for just 20€ more. I think it's an enterprise class drive, but strangely called a "Deskstar" instead of "Ultrastar". My desktop is on pretty much 24/7 so in that sense this drive should work well. I'm not going to use RAID.
Performance, energy efficiency and noise aren't important factors, as long as they aren't downright terrible. I just want a problem-free, reliable drive. I've read that the drive has advanced power management features, hopefully they are not too aggressive (like WD Greens) or can be disabled.
Do you see any problems that could arise when using the E7K1000 as a desktop drive?
