Hi, my pc makes this high pitched wine sorta when I scroll down websites in IE. At first I thought it was my monitor, but then I used my PC on another monitor, and it still does it. It doesnt bother me too much, I just want to know what it is... Anyones got any ideas?

Thanks,
Logan

Where exactly does the noise sound like it's coming from? Does it come from your speakers, or the computer itself?

Its definatly from somewhere in the box. I just took my box over to my brothers house, and switched out his for mine. (not using the same keyboard, monitor, mouse, etc)

my speakers use to screech when i used the mousewheel. i forgot how i fixed it though. i think it may have just went away.

Mine did too, it was the mouse cursors I was using - they were transparent and my computer freaked out when I scrolled too fast. The sound came from my speakers.

The solution was to just change my cursors to solid colors :)

Not the speakers. Im pretty sure its something IN the box. Could it be the video card? Its a 9600PRO

My syestem screeches sometimes. Its when I use the scroll wheel and have left the monitor mic in option on for a week or two. The screech does come out of my speakers.

Are you using the analog output on your A7N8X-E Deluxe? That's your problem. I have the same problem... there's not much you can do other than use the digital out.

_Korruption_, do you know where its coming frmo though? Its not from the speakers.

I am having a similar problem with my K8V ASUS baord...so are a bunch of others. the noise comes from middle coil just left of the CPU, right of the parallel port on the back panel. I got an RMA set up for mine. I figured out that the noise only occurs when data is coming through certain ports on the back. For me it is anything through the USBs. On other boards it seems as if the mouse ports can be affected too.

I have a thread going on this page about it: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=731774

I noticed mine start doing that 1-2 months before the PSU died.

monitor your voltages closesly. you psu might be rdy to keel over.

There's no definite answer... some people say it's the southbridge heating up too much, some say it's the bad IRQ assignments, some say it's the interference from the PSU/ATA cables lying around.

my sff has this problem, it was also coming out of the onboard audio so i use a secondary card (which took some doing since it is a sff)

incase someone doesnt know what this is: here is what it sounds like over the fans, here with the fans somewhat removed

it couldnt be my southbridge, its not warm at all

edit: read the usb related post, well, these devices are usb indeed maybe thats it :(

When I scroll sounds like it comes from my powersupply.

Thats exactly what happened to my old clone too. Originally I thought it was a faulty hard drive but it turned out to be the PSU.

I have a screechy PSU as well. It only whines while under heavy CPU load. I don't use it anymore, though.

turn off smooth scrolling in internet explorer...it should solve your problem. There is a high pitched screech that is involved with the 5900's when smooth scrolling is enabled...yes i know your not running a 5900 but try it anyway...you may be surprised

ty, you are a god

I had a lot of noise out of the speakers when scrolling and during hard drive activity. I got a quality power supply and it went away.;)

So some think its the motherboard, and others think its the PSU... Ahhh

scorling all that is used is memory and vidio card and cpu might be cowinke dink but cleen out the computer no more dust no more sound

To fix that change the Digital Input to something other than what it is set at default. This will fix the noise you are talking about with the nForce and analog output.

I've often found that it is the speakers that pick this noise up.

Try unplugging your speakers form the PC and turning them off and trying this again. Also try a different mouse or use a different USB port (if yours is, go for a front port).

Oftne what happens is the high frequency noise from that cable gets it's way into the unahielded sound cables, this shows up as a very high pitched sound. One way around this is to use shielded cables.

If it is noise getting into your audio cable, try finding a suitable shielded replacement at radio shack. if your spekaers use RCA connectors, get a 1/8mini to RCA adaptor form radio shack, and get some decent shielded RCA cables to run form that adaptor to your speakers. That's what I do, and it works great.

I just turned off smooth scrolling. Now its fine. Thanks. Scrolling looks the same too! I wonder what would cause this?

Already tried that, it's set to auxiliary.

By the way, I'm using analog on my NForce2 board with no issues, but I DO diasable everything but wave on my mixer, and use heavily sheilded cables for my connections

I have mine at CD Audio. Try that one. Aux is what it is set at for default and makes the noises.

Didn't work...
That's too bad. It's a cure for the common nforce noise from over at the nforcershq forums. The more and more I use this nForce board, the worse I like it. The shoddy IDE performance, buggy sound drivers, and shitty USB 2.0 implementation remind me of how bad I used to loath VIA.

Kind of makes me want to jump ship and join the Intel camp.

I had the same problem a while ago, turned out to be my PSU like most of the people here said.
