Welcome!

Where is Digi with the tamale cart? Who has the beer?

Wow.....6 whole posts before someone asked for beer.

I figured post 1 or 2 would at least mention it. :)

you only need what, 500,000 or so
Wait to see where its at once you get a full ramp up, those days will go by fast

Were you the one I sent the PM too? If so, thanks for stopping by!!

Yep. I'm not new to folding, just this team. I figured I could help try and hold off EVGA. I mean really, paying their folders? Yeesh.

Gotta at least try and keep [H] where it belongs. :)

Already paid for my sub to GenMay :)

So what kinda PSU would I need for a 295? It would go in my Q9650 machine that has one HDD, 4 sticks of RAM, a SB card, and a DVD burner.

Right now it sports the 275 and I have an Antec EA750. Would that PSU be enough?

You would be just fine.

Heck, I ran 3x 9800GX2 cards off a PSU like that (750TX to be exact). I don't recommend pushing a PSU that hard without adult supervision and a kill-o-watt ;) For what your doing, your fine.

Your contribution is greatly appreciated!!

8800GT added to Team #33

GTX275 later tonight. Maybe a VM on the quad if I'm feeling friskey.

Two nix SMP boxes will be added soon.

Need a folding card for the WHS. That requires cash I don't have ATM. Maybe in a week or two.

(was folding for 734, but 33 has always been my number. shhhh, don't tell no one.)

Welcome to the [H]!

Fold on!

Shit... late again. I'm tellin' ya, this job is killing me... work all the time:(

Anyhoo.... welcome dude, glad to have you folding with us!!

Beers and tamales to you, and Fold On!!

We forgive you as long as you add more D ;).

Tryin'... I got a little somethin' somethin' sitting on my desk here... just need a few more pieces parts, and hopefully I'll come close to doubling my production... hopefully:)

Welcome StillFunkyB. Your screen name is cool. How did you come up with it?

Well, my name begins with a B hence the B.

Old friend of mine called me Funky B once. Used FunkyB for an AIM screenname that I forgot the password on so I had to create a new nick. Used StillFunkyB, and been using that ever since.

Just started yesterday and already 5700+ points.

Wish I could get that 295 sooner.

So with a 295 you would run two GPU clients, in two seperate directories, with two different machine ID's...Am I correct?

Yes, a 295 has 2 separate GPUs, each one will have it's own client and directory and Machine ID.

I guess that was my other question. Would I run two clients, or just one and the one would fly through WU's faster?

this is my understanding of the SLI fix for folding: You no longer have to disable SLI in order to fold, but you still need a seperate client for each GPU.

Prior to the update you had to disable SLI to fold and then when you wanted to game you shut down the clients, turned on SLI, and then disable it after you were done in order to fold again.

Exactly.

Would that, in the past, made folding on the 295 impossible, or was it still 'working'? It was my understanding the 295 operated with 2 GPU connected by an internal SLI bridge?

Thanks!
It was always possible to fold with GTX295 cards.

Welcome! And thanks for taking the time and effort on such an important project. FOLD ON!

Folding ignores the SLI bridge on the multi GPU cards. The clients view the GPUs as separate, as if they were individual cards. If we were ever to see a quad GPU card in the future, the clients would view 4 independent GPUs.
