• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

HFM.NET Websites?

This method using fling and ftp, or the method I outlined using Dropbox. Either one will work just fine.

I tried something w/ Dropbox last night.. the problem I was having is that FAH essentially keeps the logfiles open. Dropbox does not sync the files until they've been closed, so my other machines weren't sending their log files to my "main machine" for HFM to analyze.

I just use an ftp script via the windows scheduler. I only send up one file so this allows me to rename summary.html to index.html as I ftp it.

I've never used windows scheduler before. Do you have it set up to fetch the file on fixed intervals then?

HFM updates the website every 15 minutes by default, so I suggest doing the same. Either way, set the intervals to the same number :)

I have HFM.net set to update every four minutes, creating the webfiles at the same time, and I upload every five minutes.

jeremyshaw answered your main question, but let me elaborate since it was my post that caused your concern. When I am talking about accounts, I am not referring you your Windows accounts. I am talking about the account(s) you are using to login to the ftp server. A locked down account is one that has limited access. For ftp, you want to use a login and password that only have access to that ftp folder. You don't want to use your main login and password that you got from your web host to manage the account (the admin account). That admin account can probably do the same stuff as the ftp login, but it is a bad idea to use it in such a way for a couple of reasons. The first and foremost is that every time you login to your ftp account, your username and password are sent in the clear (i.e. not encrypted). There are ways to make it more secure, but the easiest thing to do for something like this is to use a locked down account so that if anyone ever did get the user name and password, they wouldn't be able to do anything but mess with that one ftp directory. If they got the admin account and password, they could do a lot more damage.

I *Think* the 000webhost people may have thought of that already. My log in to get to the control panel and all that stuff is one set of username and password, my login to get into the FTP server is another (000webhost) assigned username and a password I set.

Since the second password is the one that is being sent every connection, and it only has access to the FTP account, I'm assuming the worst that can happen is that they can get into my ftp place with the HFM files?

Sorry for all the questions, web hosting is VERY new to me and i appreciate all the help :D

Btw, Kuo. Glad you found the thread useful! :D Keep posting here, I'm learning a lot from everyones questions and discussion :)

Works awesome!!!

I'm finally using the webspace my provider gives me.

[H]Kanakis's Farm

If the "GTX 275 - Downstairs" is paused, then the kids are playing BF2: Bad Company or COD 4!!

Sorry for bumping this but I have a question for those that are using this.

Ok I have it all setup to upload results to my website, working just fine. But it don't show the completed/failed WU's. For those that have that part working, how did you do it? I'm using version v0.5.1.198.
Thanks for any help :).

Anyone? Please help me out. I would really like to be able to see how many WU completed just by looking on my site. I wonder if it's cause I'm using the FAH GPU Tracker V2 instead of the old manual setup I used to use? It used to show the completed WU in HFM.NET client with the old manual setup for F@H with HFM.NET v0.4.8.

I don't know much about the way the tracker works. I do know that I stuck with the standard HFM website and it does show me completed/failed.

This is your problem. The tracker runs every client in -oneunit mode, so the log file is deleted after each WU completes.

I saw that too and I guess it just didn't register with me, I guess I'm a bit slow there, lol.
I've now switched over and went back to the old manual clients again.

Thanks.

Just another reason I don't use the Tracker.

I'm realizing though that we should be using it more. When newbies post with questions regarding setup of the tracker, I can only guess.

Because if its attraction to newbies, I realized I should be better versed in how to use the tracker. At least, until the newbies become veterans, and they can all support each other in their tracker use :)
