1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

Mostly gaming

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

$2000 (give or take a few hundred)

3) Where do you live?

Ohio

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.

(Marking each part with manufacture preference... though I am open to suggestions)

Processor - i7
Mobo - Asus
Memory - Corsair Dominator
Video Card - ATI
Power Supply - ??
Case - Lian Li ??
HDD - Western Digital ??
MultiBurner - ?? (Nothing fancy... only do light music burning)

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

None

6) Will you be overclocking?

No

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?

N/A

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

Within the next 2 months

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.

No real special features

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?

Windows 7 64bit

Wait, so a new monitor, keyboard , and mouse is needed for this build?

According to his thread here, they are not required.

We would still need to know the size of the monitor he will be using in order to accurately suggest a video card.

As I posted in the other thread, here is a preliminary build:

CPU: i7 920
Cooling: TRUE-120 1366, Corsair H50, or Prolimatech Megahalems
Motherboard: ASUS P6T
RAM: 6GB G.Skill DDR3 1600 (1.5v)
Video Card: ATI 5850
PSU: Corsair 750HX (modular), 750TX (non-modular), Antec TruePower New TP-750
Hard Drive: Samsung F3 1TB or Western Digital 1TB Black
Case: Your personal preference
DVD Burner: Any $25-30 burner will do

Here's an article I wrote for the review site I work for outlining all the components I used for my new i7 gaming rig. Total cost was slightly under $1800 including tax and shipping. The $1800 includes peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse) as well.

So you spent $1370 (not including peripherals) and did not get a single SSD?!?! :(

Besides the SSD, you went with the WD 750GB Black? Its significantly slower than the WD 640GB Blue or the 640GB Black

Nope, because quite frankly SSDs aren't worth the money at this point in time. It'll definitely be a future addition of mine, maybe once the price drops to around 2x the capacity. Also at the time of building not many SSDs supported TRIM, and the more affordable ones used crappy controllers. With Sandisk, Toshiba, Kingston, and others coming out with brand new faster and higher capcity drives soon it would've been foolish to splurge now.

If you read the article I got each drive for less than $60 shipped each. Plus in RAID 0 the difference isnt significant between the 640gb and 750gb models.

There have been quite some good deals lately. Kingston V series for $90, OCZ 30GB for $115, and the new Intel 40GB X25-V.

About a 5-10% difference between the setups. Significant for some, not for others. I personally would prefer 2 x 640GB Blacks in RAID0 which would actually cost about the same.

PC_User's build is good. q2brass' mobo and ram choice are quite pricey, and the OP doesn't indicate the need for such a pricey board. Though, Dominators are indeed a waste of money unless you're trying to break OC'ing records and/or want to pay for their aesthetics. FaRKle0079's build, while he did get a good deal on some parts, as a whole it isn't the best bang for buck, IMO, and its obvious other things had higher priority than performance (nearly $70 spent on fans, capacity over speed, aesthetics, etc).
