1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, everyday usage and some overclocking. (mainly, finding a max stable OC for 24/7)
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
1700-1900, tax/shipping not included.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
San Jose, CA. Our microcenter closed down last year. Sad.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, CPU Cooler, GPU, PSU, Case, Ram, SSD, Motherboard, Montior, Possibly sound card.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Keyboard and Mouse
6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes but nothing hardcore. Just to find a simple max OC (like say running 4.5 on a 4670k)24/7)
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
I would like a 27inch to use as a TV as well. So 1080 or 1440. But I can settle for 24inch in 1080 to help the budget.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Within 2 weeks.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
SLI, USB 3.0 and just good overall quality. Good overclocking capabilities.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Already have legit Windows 7 64 bit Pro.

I have build plenty of computers in the past but been out of the game for awhile. I last helped my brother put together Sandy Bridge when they very first came out. Where I am confused (and I have done quite a bit of research and still am) is just the best brands/models now a days.

What I been thinking was something like 4670k, GTX 770 (SLI if possible but I can upgrade later to fit the budget), 8gb ram (I don't mind putting a little extra for 2133 speed) 850w PSU, Corsair Hydro 100i or 110, 250gb SSD (I have a USB 3 external for extra storage, I don't keep many games installed at once).

I am pretty clueless with the case and motherboard. For case, I like the Corsair Carbide 540 but think the footprint will be awkward. Any case with great airflow that is easy to mount a Corsair 100i or 110 inside, I don't really like very cramped cases.

Motherboards, I like the ASUS Hero but heard there are much cheaper boards around that OC just as well. I don't need tons of features, just really good OCing capabilities and reliability.

For a monitor, something mainly good for gaming and a secondary TV. I'm really torn over a IPS or 120hz, 24 or 27 inch and 1080 or 1440 (for a 27") resolution.

Thanks for any help in advance. Very excited to build me a new rig after I get rid of my laptop.:D

Best ask for advice on that over in the Displays Subforum.

Hey..IB-E will be here Sept 14th.
I would wait;because with that budget ..6-core IB-E is doable.

Looks good to me. Now, do I really need 16gb or will 8gb still be fine? The only memory intensive thing I can imagine doing is playing a MMO and having a few browser tabs open.

Also, would the 750w PSU be able to handle SLI 770s eventually with overclocking going on?

Thanks for the help, any other build suggestions would be appreciated!

You don't need 16GB, but with the prices still relatively low that you can git 16GB in your budget you should.

Yes 750W is plenty.

Pretty much what Skillz said: Considering the rising costs of RAM, might as well get as much RAM now before they go further up in price: Earlier this year you were able to get 16GB of RAM for around $70 to $80. So imagine how much RAM might costs next year.
